Is the Skooba Compact Sleeve the one that was awarded Notebook Bag of the Year for 2005? If so, can someone provide a link to this award?

and is that Lowepro strap the one that comes with it or you bought that separately?

Yup, it does come with a strap. It comes with this one: http://www.ebags.com/roadwired/skoob...?modelid=47943

Not a bad strap at all actually. I just prefer my Lowepro as it's wide, more thickly-padded, and distributes the weight better. I have a bunch of these straps and use them on all my bags.

I got my Skooba Sleeve today from eBags. I'll let you guys know tomorrow when the laptop comes how it fits.

Incidentally, for the 2nd time now, I am noting that the Skooba Satchel, NOT the Skooba Sleeve, is the bag that won Laptop Magazine's 'Ultimate 2004' ("Bag of the Year?") award. SATCHEL, NOT SLEEVE!!

Do you have a link to this info on the award?

The previous poster stated that the Skooba Sleeve won the award for 2005.

Perhaps you are both right since he is referring to 2005 and you are referring to 2004?
Actually, we are both wrong.

http://www.roadwired.com/store/Product.cfm?Productid=6

The Laptop Magazine Utimate Choice 2004 bag is the MegaMedia bag, which isn't even a Skooba product.

The Skooba Satchel won Laptop Magazine's Editor's Choice award, however.

The Skooba Sleeve doesn't seem to have been reviewed by anybody.

It fits great. (Dell 700m with 8-cell extended battery inside the compact Skooba Sleeve.)

I like the Skooba, but don't see where the AC adapter would go. I just got the Sumdex from eBags. Nice case. Not sexy by any means, but functional. Not alot of padding for sure, but it does have a decent zippered compartment for AC Adaptor, GPS receiver and a couple DVD movies.

Not sure which Sumdex you're referring to. However, if you're referring to the Sumdex Compact Computer Case that was selling on Ebags for under $15, I have that one too. And the Skooba Sleeve is actually roomier than that Sumdex. Of course, you may be referring to another Sumdex. Incidentally, that particular Sumdex has disappeared from the eBags site. Looks like they're out of it.
Anyway, the Skooba Sleeve will easily hold the power adapter in the front pocket/sleeve. I put mine there, along with a cordless mouse. Perfect fit. The front pocket/sleeve has velcro to keep it closed to prevent anything from falling out. You can just see that pocket/sleeve in the pic below - it's that "slot" right above the orange trim. The Skooba also has another pocket/sleeve on the other side of the case and you can fit magazines, CDs, etc. there.

Yes, it was the Sumdex Compact (I paid about ~$18). Thank you very much for that reply and the new pic. I had not seen that pocket before. If it holds the same amount of "stuff", if not more, than the Sumdex, then back to eBags for me as I prefer some additional padding.
Thanks again.
You're very welcome. Glad I could help. I must say though that the Sumdex is quite a stylish bag, and for the price, is a pretty darn good buy. Of course the Skooba Sleeve has better padding and is slightly bigger overall. Between the two, I find myself using the Skooba a lot more.

Gave my zeroshock 12" to my friend who only has a 4cell on the 700m. I just got the Roadwired APS compact sleeve. It's great. actually, it fits the 700m with 8-cell plus my extra 8-cell. it has a removable bottom padding, so I put the spare 8-cell in first, then the removable padding then the 700m. fits great. Pictures are with both spare 8-cell and the 700m with 8-cell. Ordered a Roadwired Cable Stable standard to hold the extra battery, though. Maybe it will hold both the spare as well as the power supply. don't really need the flap. may just cut it off if it is too bothersome in the future. after one day, decided that the flap was very convenient for quick removal rather than the zipping all the time.

Hey,

So i purchased a 700m just last week, and its sitting at the couriers over the weekend...should be here at the start of the week. Anyways, so im looking at getting a sleeve for it, and being in Australia, my options are a little bit more limited. Can't get the Gap sleeve unfortunately, and yeah, I've read most of the other threads about laptop bags and sleeves too. I've seen the Booq Vyper mentioned a few times, I was wondering if anyone had it and how the 700m with the 8 cell battery fits in it. I can get it from ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Otherwise I'm also looking at the STM glove. Also 12 inches, but I think with a lot less padding but at $25 less. Its on ebay here.

Any input would be great, thanks guys.

Just got my Skooba bag in the mail...

What an awsome bag! It fits the Dell 700m like a glove (not a tight glove). It was made for the extended 8cell battery. I think if you didnt have the 8cell there would be alot of room for the laptop to move around (about an inch or so). The padding is amazing! Really soft and calming, knowing that my laptop is in a soft case. It comes with a shoulder strap, very nice especially with the soft air packets on the strap too.

There is a velcro closure on the front side, perfect for putting the charger, and thats about it. This little case is made only for the laptop and the charger. You can fit other things in it, plane tickers or just slim items.

Very nice sturdy design with a good look to it. Not to crazy and not to plain. I will be placing it in my backpack and taking it to school rather than carrying it around on my shoulder.
I would give this bag an initial 9.5/10, i will see its true use in the comming days.

Awsome bag! Im happy with it! Have any questions let me know!

check out the pic above, thanks to seikoguy!

I'd like to see a pic of it sealed if possible.

How much did it cost you with shipping?
