MR9800 unlocking pipes - Page 4

I thought the traces weren't supposed to be cut on the mr9800? If they are then maybe we can do that and then force an x800 driver install (not rouch the bios) and get our 12 pipes.

because the bios is the same, i don't think the driver will recognize the card as anything but an m9800.

in fact i don't think a driver reinstall is needed. if the bios is set for 16 pipes and the laser cut is the culprit, then a hardmod should enable the pipes. however they maybe damaged and coz lock ups and artifacts.

Has anyone checked out this bios from December. It looks to be from clevo.

if by hard modding you mean use a conductive pen to make connections, i will do it. if it does not work or causes problems then all i need to do is scrape off the conductive ink right guys? give me some input on how to make this jump guys, i will do it tonight.

It worked for me.
Interesting. Our radeons aslo end with 1. I am getting my hopes up. Keep up the good work.
If we get this done we could rival 6800 go! (not ultra of course)

Have you tried talking to that Corean guy?

thanks shoman. now, will i be able to reverse this by just scraping off the cunductive ink? or is there a chance that just opening these pipes will kill my card and what program do i use to find my number of pipes. novice questions i know...

i noticed that you have the second drive in your computer Karol, could you use RAID 0 if you wanted?

Even if you connected the pipes successfully the 9800 bios will not register it. But to be sure just check it with ATI Tool.

Yes removing the contact will disable pipes.

LOL I was just thinking did anyone here know about this laser cut before the pics were posted? Because there is no way any bios will ever unlock the pipes if the laser cut is there.

no, no one knew about this cut, i followed the research very closey before and there was no mention of a laser cut. hell, whac may have had the right bios already and didnt know it because he didnt jump the laser cut

What happened to him? He mentioned that he had got nine pipes? I really doubt that was possible.

No way. All old heros are here. whackamac just yesterday answered an Audigy question. HULK and thomaszak are in the very this thread.

Unfortunally I cannot compile a story as funny as old one. Maybe if you'd use a soldering tool instead of conductive pen...

Has anyone noticed that our radeon says PE (216PECGA12F) as in x800XT PE? And x800 pro and XT is 11F but ours is higher (12F)? Probably a coincidence, but hope is good.
By the way,Wardo, I don't know if it supports RAID.
