just got an acer 3002, its light and says its runs ddr2 533 but doesnt.

check this out.

the rams are rated at 533 but it runs only at 400mhz. fsb to dram ratio is 2:3. anyone knows why? it should be 1:2 for the rams to run at 533.

You have to host them on webspace before you can use the [IMG]URL[/IMG] tags...

Is both of the memory in both slot exactly the same? Is one of it PC3200 while the other is PC4300?
Maybe CPUZ is being dumb? It even says PC4300, which is incorrect.

both are pc4300 ddr2 533... 512mb on each slot.

thing is the 2nd screen says the ratings for the ram... it says the rams are rated at 533 but doesnt say anything about the present speed.

the first says what speed the rams are running at. called acer, they called intel and they all said its like that. But How??? sonoma = fsb 533, rams OPERATING AND RATED at 533... seems like its not now...

Hmm I don't recall there is a memory stepping in centrino platform. Hmm I have to check my system to see.

I don't think CPUZ is at fault,

The FSB/RAM clock ratio is listed as 2/3, in which case, the FSB of alviso is:
133MHz x4 for quad pumping = 533
AND
133 * 3/2 is 200 MHz, which is precisely what's listed.

CPUZ almost never makes such a basic mistake as FSB/RAM

The CAS, tRAS, tRCD, tRP all look correct.

If you look at the SPD table for the module, you see that the module is capable of running at PC 4300 (266MHz) and PC 3200 (200 MHz), but the latency in the 266 modes are much higher, for all four of these aforementioned measurements.

Clock 200 266 266
CAS 3.0 4.0 5.0
tRCD 3.0 4.0 4.0
tRP 3.0 4.0 4.0
tRAS 8.0 11.0 11.0
