Nice to hear as I'm bidding on a 735 right now. Any chance you feel like putting up a small tutorial specific for the 735? Though I have OC'd before I've never even owned a laptop and I seriously think the missus would stab me if I wrecked our 9300

If you don't feel like it, do you mind sharing which pins you wired etc? Did you do the G3/H3 and the C15/C16 like someone mentioned earlier in the thread?

I simply wired the FSB to 533MHz (C15-C16) like everyone else has done. I didn't need to add voltage, mine runs perfect at 1.306V. (I had to ramp it up as I got an error in Prime95 in the 17th hour)

Wow, that sounds about perfect. But how did you ramp it up? (I'm feeling n00bish here haha). Also, how long should one run Prime for it to be considered stable?

Oh, and thanks

I just used the freeware app 'RMClock' to change the voltage. Generally I would say overnight would be sufficient for Prime, but I'm paranoid about it so I do the max fpu torture test for 24h. Good luck!

Thanks. Oh, before I forget.. did you apply any thermal paste, like AS5?
Yeah, I used AS5 on the CPU and GPU just make sure you peel off the crap thermal pad they have on the heat sink.

Will do

Thanks again, mate!

Wanted to say my 1.6->2.13 is near the edge. I tried undervolting and at best it can probably do 1.292v totally stable at max speed with prime running. So, 1.7 is definitely less likely. Each CPU is quite different though.

Anyone pin-modded a 2.0 or 2.1 GHz P-M yet? 2.66 or 2.793 GHz would be insane! I think it would be impossible.

Hi michael

Read all about it here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=63514

Keep in mind though that I can't keep it running at 2.66 all the time, as it fails prime after a while and besides that the fans are noisy as hell at those high of temps. I am, however, perfectly stable at 2.53 without any noisy fans at 100% load for hours.

I just won a 1.5GHZ dothan on eBay for 80 bucks shipped. I'm still waiting on my i9300 so I can pin mod that sucker, pop in an extra gig of kingston ram, and lather it up with some Arctic Silver 5. I opted out for the 1.5GHz because it has the highest success rate with the pin mod.
hehe, so you're the one that outbid me. Well, there was another one that was a BIN that bought shortly afterwards for $80 shipped also.

it seems there's a bit of a bidding war on ebay now. btw, i just got myself a 1.6 for $83 + $15 shipping. can't say i'm anything but pleased about that little lump of cash..

now, if only i could find a bigger set of balls

Well I got a 1.7 GHz Dothan off Ebay last week. I plan to replace the 1.6 GHz Dothan in my i8600 with the 1.7 and then use the 1.6 in my soon to be ordered i9300. I thought about giving the 1.7 a go in the i9300 but I think I'd rather just go with the almost sure thing in the 1.6 ==> 2.13. I'm not a lucky man so I don't think the 1.7 ==> 2.26 experiment is the way to go for me and I don't feel like tearing my laptops apart more than once, with my luck I'll break something.

lol I tore mine apart about 20 or 25 times before I settled with what I have... and I re-applied as5 every time.

If I had to do it again, I would use the 1.7 and go without the volt modding. Not that I'm not happy with what I have, but I paid a premium for buying the 2.0 and I can only run it up to 19x multiplier instead of 20x...
lucidchaos, you are the reason I decided to just go with the 1.6 ==> 2.13. I actually read the whole thread and decided I wanted to go with the "sure thing". I don't need a side project like yours although I am truely impressed (and a little scared).

I ran 3dmark05 today.

I figured out the average of the clock speeds of the different CPUs between 3800 and 3900 CPU points within the ORB. I scored 3888 CPU points with my 2.13GHz Dothan (1.6->2.13)

P4 3300MHz
A64 2100MHz
AXP 2300MHz

Obviously not really, really accurate. But it gives you a rough idea of where a P-M Dothan sits.

Hey, can I do this with a Centrino M?

Someone please explain to this man what Centrino means.

Are these systems using the exact same video card with the same clockspeed? Because the CPU has virtually no affect on 3DMark05 compared to the GPU.
