True, but in my case I have to buy a dothan since im already running at 533fsb.

also, could someone with a real pm 760 (2.0) chime in with what their default vcore is? because if it's the same as that of the pm 715 (1.5), there's no reason at all why an overclocked 715 would be any different at all from a 760. and if dell uses the same heatsink, then it should function in that respect identically as well.

and if the vcore on the 760 is higher than that of the 715, then more power to you! you have a cooler running 760 and itll have longer batt life than a true 760, and it should be stable still. intel puts a lot of buffer into these.
Ziddey check the data sheet for the 533FSB Dothans. It has a chart for the Max Vcore for the 760 processor at its max speed and stepped down speeds.

I am going to be trying this with a 735 Next week. Hopefully. It possibly will work however I suspect it will require a slight Vcore Mod.

Well I just ordered a 735.. hopefully it'll work.. otherwise I can always sell it on e-bay.

Also, I could probably sell my current 730 on ebay for the same price.. so basically I get the 2.2ghz processor for the cost of a 1.6, IF this works.

Yay!

Im hopeful about the 735 Also Noblesin. I am not going to post the pinmod instructions for the Pentium Until I can confirm it indeed works. I refuse to post info here on a modification that I havent tested. If it blows up I want it to be on my own dime.

EDIT I found a good deal on a 745, think I might go with that instead.

Wow great work guys. I had hypothesized running a 400mhz dothan at 533 way back in January before the 533mhz chips were released, but I never had a chance to try it out, I also wouldn't have tried pin modding so it looks like you guys have bigger balls than I do As for needing to overvolt, I wouldnt think that would be necessary unless your pushing it REALLY high. My I9300 is running a 1.86ghz P-M at a max Vcore of 1.02v (undervolted) so there is definately a good deal of headroom on some chips.

Any updates on how the pin modding has been doing? I heard that we might get a guide by the end of the week, that would be great!
i've been successful in holding my 1.5->2.0 at 1.132v max vid instead of 1.34v

runs cool and low power

prime overnight stable

You don't need to pay the utilities, run it off the battery. hehe

Heh, I hope that mine comes tomorrow but knowing how people ship things, it could easliy be here as late as next week.

Wow you guys have some balls toying with your processors. Thanks for the fun read .

There's nothing in any of the i855PM data sheets / spec updates that mentions 533MHz FSB. Where did you hear that they would ever support that speed?

I think for the 855/400MHz crowd the only solution is software tweaking the clock generator. That may throw your PCI/AGP speeds off though, and it will raise your memory clock speed at the same time. Which is good if your memory can handle running faster than DDR333, bad otherwise...

It could be worse.. You could have a better half like mine, that think's 72 is "chilly". I'm laying in bed with nothing but boxers on with the ceiling fan on high while she's got a long sleeve shirt on with a pair of sweat pants and covered up with not only a knit blanket but a comforter too!

Just looking over at her right now makes me break out in a sweat!

I have a seperate AC in my computer room and keep it at 65 to make up for the rest of the house. And she stays out of the computer room for some reason, I can't figure it out
