But yeah that's all i hear about is how apple said the user broke something so they aren't liable, shit dell doesn't give a shit they fix it and move on.

I had an iPod of every generation released. Recently one of my iPod LCDs blacked out on one half...I am certain I did not damage it in any way and there are no cracks to be found...brand new iPod mind you!

Apple service saw it, told me that I had broken it and asked me to pay $200.00 for repairs. They said there was no way this was a manufacturing defect

I came back the next day, dropped of ALL my iPods and told them to fu*k off. Over the next 3-4 days ALL my friends in the area and around USA boycotted the iPod.

I documented each of these events, wrote an email to Apple and told them I would never buy another iPod again. Funny thing is...I have a job interview with Apple in a few weeks

we all know ipods are of inferior quality to iriver and creative players

my friend has gone through nothing but hell with apple tech support with her ibook. it seems like every month she has to send it in for a new motherboard (err..logicboard..stupid apple) and hard drive. this last repair they gave her a craptastic NOISY hard drive...i mean that thing sounds like a traktor, its louder than the fans and my 7200rpm hdd in my uniwill combined, and mind you its a 14" ibook 800mhz. jesus. after 1 repair (logicboard replacement) the keyboard didn't work so the laptop went right back in 24 hours for a new keyboard. long story short....if that laptop had frequent flyer miles, the number would be HUGE.

I still say that my Apple-loving friend has the worst story. His Powerbook started on fire. Literally.

He got a replacement, which was good, but the replacement had a few problems, too. The first was something fairly minor (broken battery hinge or something.) In the process of failing to fix that, they broke the case in half a dozen places. He had screen problems and he sent it in to have the screen replaced. They put in a screen with the wrong resolution. While he was waiting for a chance to go and drop it off, (he was getting it serviced by a nearby spot with "Apple Certified Technicians!") his hard drive melted into slag. Apparently, when the case got broken by the techs, it messed up the airflow.

He loves his Mac, though.

You were just waiting for a thread like this, weren't you.

it was due to happen.

want another horror story. my other friend's ipod died...well...the port did anyway. they said that it was beyond repair and he'll need a new player all together. well...since he figured he had nothing else to lose, he whacked the pod over the head a few times and it began to majically work

shows how stupid apple tech support might be.

and we all know what apple things of it's own buyers with the "do not eat ipod shuffle" thing on their website (which was removed some time ago)

Somehow, I think THIS has more to do with the "do not eat" thing than any actual customer issues

It might be. I was wondering the same thing last night. I'm going to check my control panel and see if the option's there.

Hey,

Yea it is. Go to User CP -> Buddy/Ignore List, and then place a name in the Ignore List box and update. Viola, ignored :P

Buddy/Ignore list is near the bottom, under Miscellaneuos if you are having trouble spotting it.

Thanks!

Glad I could be of assistance...

This is so typical, you'll only read the bad things about Apple tech support, people who are helped well don't need to post it. That's why there are almost no threads about it, because there are few unhappy one's.

Same thing with all computer companies. You always here people saying dell has bad service because it has the worst ratings and alienware has the best, of course it does, it ships far more computers than alienware (or apple for that matter)

The idea of blocking abf's posts appeals to me.... I'm not sure why actually, since I enjoy watching zealots attempting to convert the unbelievers and failing.

no it is just us not bothering to tolerate that sort of stupidity.
