Full use of speakers

I may have an issue that I wanted to throw at everyone. I don't think all of my speakers are up and running. I state this because when I am using the realtek 3d audio feature (rotating noise around the head), I can not hear anything when the noise reaches the back of the head.

The configuration is for 4ch speakers. I tried this at all levels and the testing will only play the two speakers next to the monitor (the picture in the test). Anything else is not working.

I have checked the windows settings for speakers and they are set to quadrophonic and all volume switches are turned on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Danke.

Update - just updated the drivers to 118, however, still no change. The only time I can really hear the 3d movement is if it is set to either two speakers or headphones. Anything else has a deadspace right behind me (3d positioning wise).

I have yet to find any other settings that may relate to this and I have also searched through the forums.... no luck so far. So looking for others who may have seen this or if this is the norm (I don't think it is though).

There are 4 speakers, but they are not 4.1 speakers. 2ch is the correct setting.

what apc said. surround sound would not work with the way the speakers are positioned (or i should say that surround sound won't sound right because they are not far enough away). so, it is simply a 2ch. setup.

Not 4 channel - how to prove it?

I thought the spec "4 speakers" meant we were getting 4 channel audio. After getting my Sager and testing out the audio, I don't think the LCD speakers reproduce bass very well. So is it possible that, while there are four speakers, there really are only 2 channels and that is done by seperating the mid to high frequencies to the LCD speakers and the mid to low/bass frequencies to the keyboard speakers??

Who knew...heh, who knows?

There is a subwoofer as well, which does pretty good with bass. Its on the underside around the top-right corner of the touchpad.

Do you get the subwoofer as well as the TV Tuner? I read on the Hypersonic website that they remove the subwoofer to install the tuner, is this the same with the 9860?

edit: Sorry, it wasnt on the website that i read it but when i was talking to the sales guy using the live chat thing....and come to think of it that was when i was enquiring about the Aviator GX7 and not the EX7....sorry for the mix up.

And that is why I am a bit confused. With the GX7/8790, I ran it all the time with the 6ch audio that allowed the subwoofer to kick in. There is a definitely difference between the 6ch and the 2ch on the 8790. That aside, I haven't been able to see the difference on the EX7/9860... thus my question.

I will have to do some checking about the subwoofer deal. I haven't read anything anywhere that they remove the subwoofer. In fact, I haven't found anything on any of the sites that states that the subwoofer and tuner can not coexist. If this is true, then maybe it is why I am noticing a problem. But I will find out from them.

Thanks.

The first time I was watching a DVD with my friends on my laptop, they asked me to turn up the sound. I'm like, sorry its maxed out =/
Listening to music though, its not too bad maxed.

I have the TV Tuner as well as a functioning subwoofer. The subwoofer works well for me with the sound manager in 2ch mode.

Mjavor, you might want to check your windows sound settings or reinstall your drivers or something...I can turn music and dvds up to disturbing volumes with my PCT 9860.

I wish there was a way I could test my subwoofer... I get the impression mine isnt working, but that could be due to the weak sound of the 9860
post #12 of 26
Again, something isn't set right if you call the sound weak. The subwoofer can be felt by your right hand resting on the laptop playing an mp3 at low/medium level.
yes the sub can be felt pretty good, especially if you select the "powerful" setting in the audio tuning wizard.
Where is the audio tunning wizard?
it should be located in the control panel settings. it has a blueish deisgn graphic for an icon. it will also be located in the lower right hand side task bar.

select the "powerfull" setting and adjust the left equalizer further up to get the most base possible. it works pretty good.

I'm having a different sort of problem with my speakers. Within the last few days, I've noticed my speakers haven't gotten as loud as they used to. Even with the volume set all the way up, it only gets half as loud. I haven't changed any settings that I'm aware of. Is there anything I can do to get the volume back?

Same here. Nothing is working. Not even different drivers... nothing.

I don't know what the problem is

I dont have that. What drivers are you using?
it is not a driver, it is a program that should be located to the right hand side of the task manager and is blue with a yellow dot and yellow outer rings. if you scroll your mouse over it it will say "sound effect". or, go into control panel and you will see it, it is labeled as sound effect manager.

I have a 8790, but maybe the same can apply here...

Can you do a speaker-by-speaker check of the sound and see where a problem is?
