The 6800go fits the I9200?

my younger brother bought an inspiron 9200 before dell stopped selling, and he has a keen thirst for playing games, at the moment his favorite game is doom followed by riddick, as you may know these games aren't very ati friendly so he has to run it at low quality and resolutions. Basically i want to fit a 6800 go(non ultra) in his notebook to get more horse power. looking at the sytem documentations of both systems (9300 and 9200), the video card seems to be about the same size so by theory it should work in a 9200, but i need to know if anyone has tried this yet before i waste my money on a card

I was under the impression that the 9200 didn't have a PCI-e slot, but I actually don't know. If it does then perhaps it is possible.

Yeah your probably right but are you saying that from experience or that you serioulsy doubt that it would work, here are some pics anyway from both cards

i might try and install my ultra in his 9200 and see if it works

NO! it will definetly not work!
the 9200 does not have a pci-e port just a agp 4X

As others here have already mentioned, its not possible. 9200 is AGP based while the 6800 go card requires a PCI-express slot. Best thing for your brother to do is sell the 9200 and get a 9300 or XPS 2.

Yeah, it won't work any more than an AMD processor would work in a Pentium IV socket. Techinicallt it should "fit" in the laptop though. It just won't work.

it will not going to work simply the card requires a PCI-E support from the m/b

thanks for the info, i guess i can sell his 9200 on ebay and get him the xps2 like mine, but only slightly worse to eradicate competition.
