Im in the same boat. I ordered on the 31st, parts back ordered... My computer was in build limbo up until last night, I send a email to Dell " I'm not pleased with the service kind" and blamo I wake up and check the order status this morning and it's been shipped. Whats with that ? Do they really have people boxing and shipping all night ?

The billing info was given to the carrier last night. I had dell upgrade my shipping to Next Buisness Day, however since it shipped on a Friday it doesnt matter, I wont see it till monday. UPS doesnt offer next day with Saturday delivery in my area.

Mines still in boxing I did send an email though last night because people were getting theirs shipped when they ordered theirs at the same time or after mine, just to inquire what my hold up was. They said the bulleted response of there is no delay...bla bla bla...ship date is only an estimate..bla bla... but to reinforce Dell's stance on customer's satisfaction you can choose any accessory up to $90 free of charge for your inconvenience. So that was nice. I was thinking maybe they would offer to upgrade my shipping to overnight since that is what some were getting, but the $90 accessory is better.

Ooooh!

I ordered mine on 4/7, so I thought I'd check my status... Still in boxing, as it has been for the last 3 days.

So, inspired by lubber's results, I emailed dell support to ask what's up. No response yet (1 hour later).

So I check my status, and now it's in a generic "in production" phase. Which is ABOVE (although it includes) kitting through boxing.

So whaddaya think, is that good (it's in transit to shipping) or bad (it was never as far as boxing)...

And still no offer of overnight or a free Accessory.

So Lubber, what accessory did you choose? I'm thinking a laptop bag. Of course, upgrading the optical drive to DVD-R would be nicer, but that would set things back.

And speaking of bags, is there any way on Dell's site to find a bag by laptop size? Because I don't see it, and the 9300 is mighty big. I don't even see the bags for 9300 or XPS2 outside of the order form for those laptops.

mine supposedly shipped wednesday morning, but it's been stuck on the "billing information received" phase for better than 30 hours now. how long is this supposed to last?

Well crap... now my order status on the "My Account" page says "Shipped"... but the second page (when you click shipped) still shows "In Production".

No email, tracking# or anything... I guess that's good?

I think our boxes are coming from Malaysia on the same boat.

Hey, I went from being in boxing for two days to "pre-production" for 2 hours back to boxing. I wish they'd get rid of that d@mn website. I check it every fifteen minutes all day long. It's kinda like those buttons at stop lights, you push'em and push'em thinking they do something but in reality they don't do a d@mn thing but give you something to do until the light changes.

Whoo! Now it says "In Transit to Local Carrier"... no email from dell yet, though, and no tracking #.

Once again, I ordered on 4/7.

Cool maybe it flips around like that when the automated system is updating the status. I guess that's why they didn't give you any added gifts, although I would have loved having mine changed to a "shipped" shatus too! I ended up going with an additional power supply for my free accessory. That way I can plug in downstairs in front of my 50" LCD TV and computerize on my couch at the same time without having to worry about battery!

It took less than 24 hours from In Transit to Local carrier to a tracking number. If you email dell CSRs they will send you a tracking number if you dont want to wait.
