Well since the wifi card comes with the system. You can buy the system then disable the card in the bios or such and then use your new External card instead. Its not a difficult process.

In case you don't have the matching router, note that this speed technology is proprietary and you will need the router to match the card to benefit from the advertised speed increases. Also remember that these speeds will only speed up transfers over the internal network, not over the internet, as internet connections haven't even saturated 54g yet.

That said, if you weren't aware of those things before and haven't spent the cash yet, it may be wise to think over the marketing tricks like these before you go out and buy all new gear when the gear you have may serve you just as well.
