Mainly is new video drivers. Their version of the 76.50. But most likely does not have the over-ride features so you will have to use something like Coolbits. I have not installed them yet but I am currently using laptop2go version of the 76.50. There is also a 3 version of the BIOS but don't know which 3 version. I will let another brave soul figure that out.

Updated the BIOS on my 9860, it works fine.

Don't forget to set your ATA/RAID selection correctly on initial startup.

The setup screen shows the BIOS version as V146 1.00.03. It seems to boot faster, but I don't have a stopwatch handy (I'm away from home right now).

i am confused as to what to do here. there are 2 bios updates it seems. i downloaded both of them and one is a flash utility through windows. but the other one is just a file and i don't know how to instal it.

The file: 'winphlash.exe' is a BIOS flash utility that you can use in the Windows environment. It's a self-extracting archive, run it, and then run "setup". You'll then have a item in your Start menu called "WinPlash" run that and point it to the other file you downloaded "NP9860_03.wph", and it will update your BIOS.

ok thanks.

i reflashed the bios and the only number that changes was the BIOS Revision and it went from V146 1.00.03h to V146 1.00.03.

basically it took out the "h".

I never paid attention to my boot times before, so I dunno if it's been sped up. However, the new bios has introduced an approximately 2 second delay for the Promise controller to detect my hard drive (single 7200) whereas before it was detected instantaneously.

@apc, hmm that's strange, because there is no delay on my machine. I have 2 100gb 5400 ATA drives.

just a question, does the winphlash works correctly ? I'm supposed that i need to stop my anti-virus to run this ??

Somebody try to flash the bios with winplash ??

I ran winphlash with Norton AV running in the background no problem.

how does the new bios affect the heat and fans. Do they run constantly, more often, occasionally, very little?
i haven't noticed any difference in temps with the new flash. i actually havent noticed any differences.

i am just hoping that the new bios can "cure" the goofy fan problem that alot of people have experienced, like fans getting stuck comming out of hibernation.

Hello folks, I just recieved an email from Sager about the new BIOS; they tell me it is the update for supporting 6xx Intel CPU's. Just FYI.
