Anyone else other then me want to repond to this? - Page 3

Fidget, I corrected him for saying, "the P4 is a heck of a lot faster than the Mobile chip" which is false. I didn't insult him, just told him he's wrong (which he is). I don't need to show respect to him or anyone else that dispenses false information, I'll leave the brown nosing to you. Don't worry I won't hurt your AW sensibilities and your 1st year economics (ir)rational spending habits anymore.

BTW guys, all sparring aside, I do like the 7700 and 9860 and almost purchased the 7700 back in January until I heard about the 9300 (wasn't even aware of the XPS 2) and decided to wait. Anyhow, I have no doubt the 9860/7700 will be on par with an XPS 2 once they receive the 6800 Go Ultra. In 6 months if Sager comes out with a Dothan/Turion based system and a next gen card (e.g. R520 mobile) I'll be one of the first to buy it.

Do you have an article that supports your claim? If so please post the link. I'm curious to read it.

This guy got his to 2.0 ghz. Others in the Dell forum have 1.8 Ghz chips on order and will be reaching ~2.4 ghz, should be very interesting. Remember, the 400 fsb dothan is on a 100 fsb (quad pumped), these new alviso's operate at 133 fsb. So with the 18x multiplier on a 1.8 ghz dothan, you can push it to 2.4 Ghz with a slight pin mod.

thanks joker,

but in fact it is a real toss up between the speeds, the insult is not telling a mod they are wrong but in saying that they are deliberately dispensing false information. to use a famous quote here:

"I may not agree with your opinion but i will defend to the death your right to have it."

i respect you having your opinions and that you have the right to do so. i disagree with you attempting to force your opinions on members of this community and i dont think the manner in which you are making your opinion known is a constructive one. voice your opinions as much as you would like, but if you choose to do it please do it in a way that you are not insulting someone by questioning their integrity.

i dont know what they do in the dell forums but it is only right that you show respect when you are not in that area. it is the same respect you would show to any person whos home you are guest in, and that is what you are here, you are a guest so treat us and our forums with the same respect you would want us to treat yours with.

i know that all of us alienware owners would like to have peace between dell and alienware people lets let our differences be settled on the fields of counterstrike source, or unreal tournament, or any number of other games. but really arguing here is pointless so once again i would say that we should drop the topic of who has the (slightly) faster machine, stop being childish, and just go about our business enjoying our machines.

(oh and happy 500th post to me..... )

Sorry fidget, I'm just being a bit defensive since we had a few AW supporters crash a thread recently in the Dell forum, one of whom was outright trolling. Anyhow, forget CSS, we need to setup a Dell vs AW desert combat game.
its okay, i understand that it happens, i saw and was following the thread in the dell forums that was in despute. i can understand the defensive posture, its the same that alienware owners get when they are in the dell forums at times. i would kill for some desert combat time as soon as my university finals are over, i would be fine with having an alienware vs. dell game of it, in fact i think it would be great as a way to bring the communities together.

i wish all sides of the dispute would stop the trolling and just let it rest, it really serves no one at all to see people trolling.

no hard feelings to those in the dell forums we all have our sides and i hope that we find that common ground. game on everyone.....

@ propofol,

i think comparing the i9100 vs the 5500 in terms of performance and price would be fair. unfortunately both systems are no longer offered, thus such a comparison is no longer possible. from my own personal experience, the i9100 i bought was about $600 cheaper than the identically configured a51 5500. the specs i purchased are in an above post in this thread.

non-gaming benchmarks would also be welcome, but since both systems are being pushed as "uber gaming notebooks" and the target customer is a high end mobile gaming enthusiast, i'd think game benchmarks would be more relevant. but yeah, p4s are much better number crunchers than pms.

as for dell's sparkle policy, i got the same thing read to me. then they sent me a replacement system with significantly less light leakage and sparkle. the replacement also arrived within a week and they paid for the return shipping. i think i'm actually getting used to the sparkle, coz i don't really notice it anymore. otherwise, i have no complaints about the screen. vibrant colors and great brightness. the real estate from 1920x1200 is nice too

i'm really anxious to see how the ultra performs in the clevo clones. 6k+ is the current record with a huge yet uncontrolled oc. i hope the clevo ultra doesn't have an oc'ing lock.

are there usually more people on that css server? last time i logged in, i think only 10 people were playing.

Man, how did I miss this gem of a thread? It definately made for some good afternoon reading.

Let me dispense some of my opinions, and remember they are opinions nothing more. I personally prefer the Mobile chips to the P4's because they run much cooler and provide better battery life. I have been going back and forth between the Dell 9300 and the Alienware 7700 for my next laptop, and I will most likely be getting a 9300 unless something more interesting comes along. I don't necessarily need a beast of a notebook as I have a good desktop system. And no, I am not buying the Dell to get AOL

Arguments on forums are healthy, as long as we dont hit each other personally. We strive to be on top of the other and it makes us (our systems) better. I prefer not to join the heat because I havent experienced "the power" of XPS yet. As to what Fidget said, its just a matter of choice. For me, I chose Alienware because I feel it's unique and I havent owned one yet. As long as your system suits your needs and gives you the pleasure of its capabilities, it doesnt matter which brand it is. I'm happy with my choice and I believe it will not disappoint me and will go beyond my expectations. Plus, it never fails to bring the "oohs" and "aahs" from whoever sees it. I tend to go against the flow, but I always make sure that I'm happy with it. Go ahead with sensible arguments! People like me are learning from it and helps us make right decisions!

You have to get a Dell to really appreciate the finer aspects of computing.

I don't mind civilized arguments. It's insecure people responding to another person's differing viewpoints in a hostile, vulgar manner that gets irritating.

Craig, you have got to tell me what your secret is to remain so calm and serene. Is it yoga? Meditation? Meds? Please do tell because I would've never been able to tolerate such obvious trollish attacks sent into your direction.
