Don't know if it's been posted b4, but I found this:

This notebook is AWESOME!

It uses the powerful Sonoma chipset, and has the Radeon X600. The key part is that it only weights FIVE POUNDS!!!

It's certainly one of Asus's best offerings at the moment...

That's definately right

However, I would prefer something with a nicer monitor, and a more powerful graphics card (X700 128MB)

and something a little cheaper than $2100

Nicer monitor, cheaper? = Acer 8103
But Acer 8103 = uglier, heavier, and doesn't come with as many "goodies"...

How does the Acer have a nicer monitor too?

From what I hear, you can get 1st degree burns off of the palmrest of the V6V. Not to mention all the grundle that will be clogging up all those little holes... have a nice summer cleaning those out.

If you're going to go for an overpriced/underpowered style machine, go with the W3V ensemble model.

The deal with the price is that to make the V6V very light, Asus had to use ultra slim components, like the CD drive. You can't buy that at stores.

Also, the review says the the Asus monitor is very poor quality.

The reason someone would get the Asus is:
1. Lightweight
2. Asthetics

its so beautiful looking, but it only got 877 in 3dmark05, while the Z71V is gettin 2000+. I am really interested in gaming so that doesn't really look to good to me. Im holding out for the W2V, widescreen, still unbelieveable looking, and x700 128mb

Yeah the Asus V6V is a nice laptop and would love to buy it. But the price on it was a bit higher and I wanted a bit more on the graphics

Woah.. the W2V looks perfect! maybe a bit big, but basically all i'm looking for... style, quality, x700 or 6600... europe only? or could i find a retailer in the states? (like proportable?)

Go with Dell..
Got the 17' "True Life" 1920x resolution screen with 256MB Geforce 6800, Sata Hard Drive, and DDR2 Ram for ~$1600 after instant discount.
Dell is quite, solid, cool, and with some Mac looks and feel.
The machine is not as heavy as previous version too

Only get a 17" if you're going to use it as a desktop replacement. Carrying those huge effin' things will get cumbersome.

true dat. There's a 9100 at my office and oh my god: I'd need a hammer to dent that thing (and a handcart to carry it around).

W2 = 17" W1... I'd go with the refreshed W1.... looks perfect to me.

I think Justin mentioned somewhere that a lot of the older ensamble notebooks are going to be refreshed into Sonoma. Looks like the W1 will get the x700 as well since it's their flagship Ensamble modle.
