Major Issues with 4760. HELP!

Thread Starter
Was using 4760 On the train and Ran it down to only 6% power. Shut it down and did not touch it all weekend. Went to usse It on Monday booted It Up saw the windows XP Pro splash screen and then nothing. Never saw the windows log on screen. What is wrong?

I then tried to boot into safe mode it hung at the mup.sys . I was told this could be an HD issue or mabe ram. I then went to the recovery consoled, did a fixboot and a fixmbr and also a chkdsk /f. With no effect. Then tried to boot from the XP cd and it would stick at the "now starting windows" just before the EULA. so I can nolonger get to the system repair console. I then formated the drive And Installed win 2000 And it took forever and now it hangs at the win 2000 splash screen. In DOS it is fine. Warrenty is up. Took some DDR from A Dell Latitude. with no change, it boots but cant get to or load windows took a HD from A Compaq (30GB) Install woulo not start but computer will boot. Help Please

Ok lets do this one step at a time

1. are u attempting to boot/os install on just battery alone?

2. Do you have a 2.5 to 3.5 HD adapter or can you get one? If yes then take out your drive and hook it to the 2nd channel of a desktop IDE port. If it runs in this configuration and NOT in the 4760 then either the IDE connector in your Sager 4760 is blown or the IDE port on the Sager is shot.

3. Any virus updates done before this crash?

4. Did you remove the heatsink on the CPU and clean out that area and the fans to the heatsink?

5. Is the connector that runs the fan that cools the system RAM properly plugged in to its port?

6. Is the original Sager 4760 drive making any kind of clicking or grinding sounds?

Your hard drive might be under warranty by the maker. Send the maker an email aksing for warranty repair. You might be suprised.

Give these a shot and if I can help some more send me an email to my yahoo addy.

Good Luck

Tim
