Can someone with an i9300... - Page 2

My internet went down, but as soon as you posted that, I had it reversed. Two byte patch (0f 85 -> 0f 84, x2). Just as soon as my 9300 comes in, I'll see what happens... I don't want anyone to blow up their 9300.

The program just sends a windows message (0x80) to the service to make it flash. You don't even need to modify the program to make it flash (eep).

Not the most secure of programs. Anyone with trivial user-permission can send a window message to a service.

Hah, I got a ton of bad rep points. Hilarious.

Do you mind PM'ing me with the details of what you're trying to do? I'll keep you from the red too.

Not trying, did. I cracked the XPS 2 Bios update to flash the 9300's bios with the XPS 2 bios.

Which does what for everyday users?

I have a quick question I ordered a 2.13 for my 9300 will that work with the original 9300 bios or am I screwed??? And have to wait for an update from Dell or your super bios.

Absolutely nothing.

But I suspect it will enable the 6800 Go Ultra to function properly in a 9300. The only real problem is that someone actually capable of editing firmware needs remove the bios 6-cell battery check, otherwise people will only be able to run their 9300 w/ Go Ultras on AC.

I have no idea how to even begin reversing firmware. I'd have to get a copy of the actual BIOS file, not the update utility. Once I get my hands on my 9300 in about 2 weeks, I'll just run the usual Phoenix/Award tools to extract it and see if I can't find some way to get the bios code disassembled.

Roach, I imagine the stock bios will support the CPU, as people have been running pinmodded 7x5 series cpus (the older 100mhz FSB Dothans, for Alviso not Sonoma) as much higher speed 7x0 cpus.

Again this is complete voiding your warrenty.

You also need to take into account the power supplie's are differnet in these to systems so it's not just a matter of pluged in not pluged in but how much power your system can push.

I'm not saying it's a complete solution. Clearly.

It's a step... one of the many required.

And uh - anyone putting a 6800 Go Ultra in their 9300 is voiding the warranty already, so it's kind of a moot point, no?

Talking about the Guy trying to upgrade his CPU and yes its a moot point but someone may not know that so why don't you add a little disclaimer to the topic.

I wonder how stable the ultra is going to run in the 9300 without the proper heatsink mods. It seems like they are made out of copper in the XPS2, but aluminum in our 9300's.

The ultra comes with the heat pipe atached to it.

I know about the heat pipe, but what about the heat sink that is visible from the fan exhaust. I think there is a reason that its made of Cu, while the 9300's is made of Al.

The heatsinks that are attached to the ultra card are copper, so if you take an ultra card out of an XPS and replace the standard 6800go in your 9300. You will get the same exact cooling performance in the i9300 as you had in the XPS.

After you apply some arctic silver, you will drop temp by about 3dG's.

Has anyone tryed to make go6800 bios into 6800ultra. Then 9300 would run videocard normally. Then just overclocking and get the ultra results.
