I'm wondering if anyone has a preferred utility for monitoring CPU temp, etc. Any other utility recommendations are welcome as well.

Well, im guessing, since it wouldnt be used much, that it would be more cost effective to just leave it off.

Surely, there must be a temperature censor on the CPU as the fan speed varies. If it did not have a sensor, how would it know to vary the fan speed ?

Unless it is my imagination that the speed changes. It get's noisier anyway.

It has a sensor, but it's just wired in a way that it's not accessable to the user. It's independent of any external controll is what i think i'm trying to say.
