Compare benchmarks between the two in the sager reviews section and you will get your answer. Basically the summary of the difference between these two systems is 7620 = uber fast, pretty heavy, pretty big, relatively little battery life, and goofy round track pad. The 4880 = very fast(not a 7620, but fast), fairly heavy but not unbearable, very nicely sized, great battery life, some people dont like the viewing angles of the screen, cheaper. I chose the 4880 for my uses, but I debated for many days between the 7620 and 4880. My final decision was made by the fact that I liked the two equally, but one was cheaper.

I liked the 7620. I'm not into wide screen yet.

In terms of speed, the 7620 is faster. By going through some of the threads, you can calculate that a 2GH PM is almost equal in performance to 1.5 to 1.6 times its speed of the P4 with HT. So 2GHz PM is like 3.0 - 3.2 of P4.

If you don't mind working with relatively heavy, hot machine, then the 7620 is the favourable one.

The 7620 has front DJ panel, which is cool, better sound quality, better screen, better ghraphic card (X800 has better resolution and speed)

Pentium M often beats P4 in gaming benchmarks, albeit they use the highest end PM chip. In any kind of encoding, P4 > PM.
