it was a weekend only deal. It was in their store flyer. They had some really weird rules. The main one being you had to use their in store kiosk to configure the laptop and qualify for the rebates.

The rebates were a $150 office depot rebate, and a $50 HP rebate (or if you so liked $300 in Marriott hotel gift cards.)

I didn't get the Brightview screen because I really dont like the glare brightview gives you. I got a 40g HD because I plan on yanking that thing out and putting in a faster 80g drive I found a deal on on Pricewatch.

Didn't get a burner either, no need since I have two in my PCs.

If you live in Hawaii or Alaska you can still get this deal:

They still seem to be selling it through techdepot (but without the $150 rebate). Upgrades are 50% off.

Last week I got:

athlon 64 3200+
15.4 brightview
1 Gb ram
128Mb dedicated ATI xpress 200m
80gb 5400 rpm drive
dvd/cdrw
b/g and bluetooth

for $874 + $40 shipping

Costco.com also has a good deal on a preconfigured for about $1000 that's ending today.

The video card won't be anything to brag about but is more than sufficient for most tasks and games.
