SPDIF Digital Audio out via S-video

I saw in the manual an adapter cable to get Digital Audio out of the i9300 via the 7-pin s-video port.
I found this (similar) cable on the web:
http://www.svideo.com/dell8100.html

I called Dell, but they had no idea what I was talking about. I can't find it on the Dell Australia web site.

Does anyone use one?
Does anyone have a part number?

About this S-Video on i9300... does anyone get the S-Video box with their i9300 purchase? Mine doesn't. Is it a standard S-Video out? My old i9100 comes with the S-Video box, but i9300 doesn't. I wanna try the Digital Audio out too, wondering if its better.

delbz, I'm also an Oz user who would love that digital/s-vid adaptor - I searched ebay and the Dell website and couldnt find it anywhere.

It's even mentioned in our manual ffs.

I've seen mention and at least one pic from someone who got this adapter included with their notebook. I'm not sure if it was an XPS 2 or 9300, but it looks exactly like the one you have linked. It has S-video, composite and digital audio.

I got it with my XPS2 -- I didn't realize it came with the digital audio connector, but it is the same one you linked to.

Here is a pic of the XPS2 dongle. From the review section.

It's all over ebay. Do a search for "dell s-video" I picked one up for $5 shipped.

This is one of the advertised features of the XPS2. It's probably not publicized by dell in order to give you another reason to buy the XPS2 over the 9300. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of mod to turn the 9300's 10/100Mb ethernet to 10/100/1000.

I noticed that my 9300 didn't come with the adapter. I found in the manual that you have to order it from dell. It used to come standard with all laptops that had video out.

I recieved the adapter last night and it works a treat.
All I had to do was change the audio output to SPDIF in Media Player Classic and it pumped out 5.1 beautifully.
