Yea, that is what they told me, but for "customer appreciation", they gave me a $100 coupon.

You either get a student discount or the coupon you just used. In most cases, the $750 off 1500 is probably the best deal you will find in your price range. It is even better than the deals at the Dell University site. Also, your university needs an agreement with Dell for the deals to even be active. The easiest way to tell if you school has the agreement is whether if there are Dell computers throughout the campus in labs.

What kind of details? I told the CSR that I was a student and if I could get a discount. She told me to cancel the order and to order again from the Higher Education department. I explained to her about the coupon and how the education section is always overpriced than the H&H section. She looked at my previous orders and how I HAVE gotten $50-$100 discounts on previous purchases. After 15 mins or so, she tells me she cannot give me a discount, but she can give me a coupon code for $100. I said OK. I would have rather taken the discount, but I can always spend the coupon or buy games with it

Remember: Don't be rude to the CSRs. Keep them in a good mood and they'll work with you. Otherwise, you can forget about the discount and the coupon.

This is not my experiance. When I go through OU's website, I get the current discount plus a school discount.
For example, here is the price of the xps at the home site.
From $2,749(strikethough)
Now from
$2,337
After 15% OFF Instantly!

Now here it is through my schools, OU, website.
From $2,749
$2,337
After 15% OFF Instantly - Online Only!
Now from
$2,196
After Member Discount

This is what I used to get my 9100 about a year ago. Saved me some extra cash. Hope this helps

normally ifyou log onto your univeristy website and go to their campus computer store, they will have a link. otherwise, you can just go to the dell website and log on there by inputing your university. normally the coupons will be a better deal than the education discounts though

You can usually get better deals through home/office using an $800 off or 35% off. Whichever one is currently available. University discounts are not that great.

Just do what laughingbilly said. Get onto your universities website and the ones that have a deal with dell with have a link that will take you to dell site. Then all of the discounts are on there because you through your schools site. It all just depends on the site.
