need your opinion: Sony S360 vs. Asus W3v

Hi all,

I'm sure you are all Sony fans already, but could you give your unbiased opinion comparing the two laptops? I love the sony, but the asus specs are more attractive. Also, for those of you who own S360's, how would a laptop like that hold up as a main computer? I will be moving and will need my next laptop to function as my main computer for the next few years. Thanks!

As I said in the other thread, I made my decision already, and it will be my main computer too, so that is somewhat important to me as well

The video card seems to be roughly the same... I dont know how much better the X600 is supposed to be, but it roughly benches the same, and in some tests less than the ATI 9700. It literally goes back and forth, but I dont know whats better for sure. Lots of people have written on this topic, and they have mostly said they are both the same card, just one is PCI, etc.

I dont know how Asus screens are. They have always seemed decent. Never seen one in person that has blown me away like the Sony or Fujistsu screens have.

For 1800 or so (that means your buying a preconfig sony, and putting in an additional 512 and hard drive if your so intereted), the computers are virtually the same. Minus the dvd-rw, you would be saving money on the Sony, and probably be getting a better product in terms of quality. (Only based on the asus laptops I have seen, I havent seen this one).

For me it came down to screen... Light weight... Long lasting battery, and gaming ability. I got all that and more in the Sony s360. I wouldnt change it out for any other notebook at this moment.

Either way im sure you will be happy. I know im enjoying my 5 plus hours of battery life, with a beautiful Xbrite screen, and my Half-life 2 playing gpu. good luck.
