Extreme Slow Down in NFSU

I have been playing Need for Speed Underground for about 4 months now and all of a sudden in the middle of gameplay the game slows down to a crawl. I have not changed any drivers or anything between when it worked fine and when it started slowing down. It slows down for about 40 seconds then returns to normal speed just fine and it does not do it at the same part of the race track. The fans are not running at full speed when I play so I am guessing it is not overheating but I may be wrong as I have not cleaned out the heatsink in awile. Any advice on how to get it to run smooth again? Thanks.

Try cleaning the unit and/or using the Fn+F10 (Max Fans)

Try running the game in a windowed mode and watch the MobMeter (assuming you have it installed) ans see if it breaches the 50-55C mark, if so, take G's advice.

If not, uninstall, defrag, reboot, and do a clean reinstall.

Report results plz.
