i was just wondering if dell has discounts for people that are in the military. i want to buy the XPS2 and im looking for some discounts if at all possible.

im sure if you waited for the 1000+ coupon it'd be less than any military discount

The military discount form Dell isn't good your better off grabbing a coupon from the forum and using that. Marine/Navy/Army/Chair Force??

Cool i'm a Marine where are you stationed? I got a better deal through the coupons from dell then with a military discount.

If you go to Dell through the AAFES (or whatever you Navy guys call your store )website you can get a small discount, but it's not as much as a good coupon.

NEX/MCCS but I found that coupons like you said almost always beat there price.

Good, then it's not too late...GO AIR FORCE!!!!! Sorry, I work with a lot of Navy guys and I like to mess with them. They really get screwed a lot.

Airforce???? Well I guess they're ok...instead...GO COAST GUARD!!! Believe me, I've worked with Navy, Marines, and Airforce...both officers and enlisted...and the general consenses is that if they could do it over again, they'd have joined the CG. Side note to that is that of the three services listed...the Airforce was the least screwed...they just have stations in the middle of no where. Good Luck! BTW, AAFES is available to all military services, not just the Army and Airforce. Just go to aafes.com and register with your social. Their Dell deals are pretty good, for the XPS 2 the base price was 17 something where as on Dell it was like 22 or 23 something with the 400 bucks instant savings. But like the others have said...you can't beat a great Dell coupon that comes by every so often...just be on the lookout.

I can only speak for the Army, but we have a program in place with several hardware and software manufacturers. Try visiting the Army Small Computer Program. I believe the links and offers are valid for most, if not all, Government employees.

Gateway will not honor a military discount...as I was mislead by one of their representatives. That is all I will say about that....

AAFES and NEX discounts do not compare to online coupons with regard to the amount of discounts from www.notebookreview.com and www.techbargains.com on Compaq/HP, Dell, IBM, and Sony.

The "Exchange system" cannot compete with the internet or even local stores: www.shoplocal.com

I am getting ready to join the airforce. I don't know a lot about the military. How do people get screwed in the military?

I will...

Recruiter: Son, you're going to be a fighter pilot!

truth: You're mowing lawns for 4 years.

they join.
no, the air farce is easy, known and worked with allot of AF people (pararescue), they have a good life
I was in the army, my recruiter told me I should go through the RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program) and it sounded cool so that's what I did. I LOVED the training! going to the schools and doing all the stuff you see in the movies is the greatest time in your life, although while you are going through it its awful. its permanent party that kills you, I hated that part, oh, and warfare sucks. I was in several conflicts, lost lots of buddy's. you get sick of that quick, that's why I got out, now I'm fat but at least I'm not in Saudi Arabia again!
