I returned my first XPS 2 because of a feud I had with the customer service reps. and some very minor issues (ie. clicking hard drive, slight buzzing video card.) Unfortunately, it left me in need of a laptop and couldn't find a laptop that satisifed my need for speed, looks, battery life, weight, etc. So, when the 33% off +12% epp deal happened, I decided I could be bought for a price. Besides, I thought maybe I'm being a tad OCD(ish).
I am sooooo glad I can be bought because the second time around has been perfect. Apparently when you purchase through the epp program you receive support from the business service side of Dell--they have been nothing short of fantastic.
The laptop has been reviewed to death so I won't bore you; other than to share some observations. The second laptop has a 100gig Fujitsu with absolutely no clicking. As for the video card--silent, no fluttering.
You're all asking, "the screen, what about the screen?" I think the screen is beautiful. It is a LG K9662 and the whites are white, the screen is crisp and no dead/stuck pixels. Yes, it has the anti-glare coating but that doesn't bother me one bit, it's the nature of the coating. I've looked at the Fujitsus without the coating and, while I think the screens w/o the coating look awesome, I also think they reflect images and lighting too much for my taste.
The second time around I cannot be more happy. If you are thinking of getting a XPS 2 and you're afraid by all the conflicting information in this forum, do your self a favor and order one of these beauties, you'll be glad you did.
There is always some pain when you are on the cutting edge of technology. I'm glad to see that Dell appears to be listening and fixing the problems as quickly as possible.
