This 5680 will be my 6th laptop. I can only remeber one laptop a few years ago (Toshiba Portege 3015) that had a dead pixel. It was quite annoying.... If we continue to accept dead pixels from the manufacturers, then they'll keep making them. If they keep getting them back, they might just find it more cost effective to fix the problem. Then again, I might get my 5680 on Friday and it'll be flawless and then what can I rant and rave about??
The thing is that it's something that you can't fix. The process is not perfect and more than likely never be perfect. I suppose we as consumers can take a stand and refuse to accept this from any manufacturer. Of course the only course of action from the manufacturers would be to raise prices to compensate for the defective screens. LCD screen prices would at least double and probably more to meet perfect standards. Although it seems that there is a lot of dead pixels popping up here I'm pretty sure the actual percentage is still quite small. At some point we'll move away from LCDs (OLEDs maybe?) and we won't have to worry about it anymore.
