WSXGA+ or WSUXGA WITH TL

Can someone please post a pic of a 9300 with the non-true life display? I'm debating whether or not the added money / well-documented complications with sparkles, bleeding, etc. is worth it.

get true life!

one amazing screen, it's surprising how high res it is at first but when you next see a normal LCD again you realise how much better the true life is

Glossy is the best thing ever. You will wonder why you ever even considered a regular matte screen.

rigghhttt...but what about long term effects on this glare...even though u can reduce it by changing positions of the laptop or its screen itself. I am a big fan of these glossy/reflective screens and I am desperately giving myself a reason not to get a matte looking screen as I feel I will be stepping back one..... but this is the only thing that is stopping me from buying a i6000D with 15.4WSXGA.....

Some people will give you advise based on their opinions, that is afterall what forums are for, your best bet it to hit a Best Buy or Comp USA and check out some laptops and standard LCD's. There are a few out there that will have similar screens, especially the glass front type LCd's. See how the glare works and if it is annoying or not for yourself.

You will find that somethings are true about the True life screens. The gloss makes blacks and colors look Deeper, or more saturated. In case of blacks, it is like taking a sharpy and drawing a filled in block on a paper, then lay a piece of glass over it and it will look darker and sharper.

You will also see an issue that people talk about called sparkles. It is an anti glare thing (supposedly) whites have a strange sparkly brightness about them. After a while you will get used to it and it will be something you dont think about. When you are playing games and such it is stuff you dont notice. The True Life screen is very nice, but for its nice it does have those two issues with the sparkly thing (that most people dont notice anyway.) and light glare which is bad with glossy LCDs. There is no way around it. In you own home you would deal with light and make sure it is not behind you as much as possible to reduce the glare. All you have to imagine with this is taking any regular CRT that has 0 anti glare coating and put it in a room with a ton of light sources or worse take it out side on a sunny day. It takes getting used to, and you will eventually work it out.

As far as the regular WXGA screen dont let anyone talk you out of getting that either. It is a very nice screen. I have two laptops, my sony that has the glass screen and an i9300 and other than the deep glossy look the i9300 is a really nice lcd. The rezolution may be your only concern of only 1440x900. For me its fine (I normally run my desktops at 1024X768) so it is enough for me.

Now my opinion, If you want really nice bright vibrant colors and deep blacks, get the True Life and deal with the glare issues etc. I found that the regular WXGA screen has nice deep blacks (not charcoal or grey) the colors are excellent and I play alot of games on this laptop, the fact that it is an LCD make my games look crisp even without the glossy screen.

You should go and check out what I mean at a local retailer before you make a purchase. Nothing worse than getting something and having it be annoying.
