what the.... could you ask him for more info.

yeah, i was thinking about that because all the 700m's in the outlet are gone. And the shipping date when ordering a new one went down from 5/4 to 4/29, but that could just be because the customers who used the $750 off $1500 have been sent out. So, we'll see if a new one comes out, hopefully they fix the keyboard issue, and I won't be so pissed that I missed the $750 off $1500

I am currently using 700M and loving it, but some of def upgrades we need are

1)battery inside of the case
2)newer model of cpu
3)separate graphic card
4)7200rpm option in dell config section

I will ask the coworker to provide me w/ link if he can

Major Dell Coupon!!!

Hi All,

I had been considering purchasing the new MAC MINI, but I decided to go with a dell 700m. For all of us who can use it, dell is doing the $750 off of $1499 again starting tomorrow (april 21), according to this website.

http://search.netscape.com/ns/boomfr...notebooks.html

I hope someone can use it.

is he getting Pentium M 730 processor confused with 700m?
If I am not mistaken, I believe the laptops are preconfigured and some parts cannot be upgraded online. Not sure if 700m is included.
If the 700m is getting an upgrade, my guess is that it is just being upgraded to the Sonoma platform with the Intel 915GM chipset and the 533MHZ FSB like the ones sold with the 6000. This is probably because Intel is slowly phasing out the older Dothans as the production of the Sonomas increase. Speed wise, the change should not be too noticible.

then may all your 700m's fall victim to an accident so you will get a sonoma based 700m in its place (of course you had to have bought the complete care).

Hey Spades, I didn't see anywhere on that link saying the $750 off coupon is starting up again tomorrow. Could you point that out for me? Thanks. I will be purchasing one soon and want to use one of those kick ass coupons!

You can always cancel. Not sure what kind of deal you got on your order. But, nobody knows for sure that there is a new 700m to be released. You can wait until you get it, then send it back in the 21 day return policy, then order the new one.

if this is true, they should add:

-dedicated volume+mute buttons & OSD for volume like the 6000
-dedicated wifi button
-dedicated pgup/pgdn buttons
-definitely improve on battery life like someone mentioned on here, it's pathetic that have to get the extended battery to get average usage out of this
-dedicated play/pause/track next+prev buttons like the 6000 would be nice too but not as crucial

oh, an ibm "thinklight" or backlit keyboard like the apple powerbooks would be nice
