The reason I need a firewire or usb2 is at times I down load to the laptop and edit for deadline during halftime or between periods. Multiple cards are nice but I need to edit in the field.

1_of_9 no problem.

1. It's not available yet

2. It will not be as fast as USB 2 or Firewire & if you're copying one gig of digital images you want all the speed you can get
Umm you sure it's not USB2? I know it is a USB device.. and will have a USB cable inclduded for attaching to other computers..

And it is usb 2 Check out sagers specs

Specs on 6-in-1 card reader

So the only reason you have now is that it isnt available yet but should be soon

Great research infinity. I was starting to wonder about getting the 6in1 unit if it was only USB1.1 but now I know otherwise.

Now all we need is some stock of the things.
Maybe a few bananas will help .

Well, I took someone's word (here on this board) for the usb v1.1 interface, Howver, the one I ordered thru powernotebooks, and will likely follow the actually 8890 becaue it isn't available yet - is one that plugs into the same port the mp3 player goes into. At least6 that is what I was led to believe. And I was told that that port is usb v1.1. On the link to the specs for the 6-in-1 in this thread....I think it is the previous version which was an external device...notice this line in the specs..."Remarks 6" proprietary USB Cable included in the package" - which leads me to believe it plugs into any one of the four usb v2 ports in the rear of the 8890 - perhaps it does both?

oops....jsut noticed, it DOES do both

"The READ-8890 is an USB 2.0 high-speed Card Reader module that plugs into your NP8890 series notebook PC or use it as an external Card Reader when connect to a standard USB port."

Yeah... yeah...

I'm wondering if the DEVICE is 2.0 but the internal "special" connection is 1.1... I think this is where the confusion is.

Does anyone have any facts on the INTERNAL connection of the mp3/card-reader port?

(don't take my word for it!)

well, it doesn't really matter now - does it? Pro Image can just stick his 6" cord in and go 480 mb/s now. That is a tad faster than firewire anyway.

On paper USB2 is faster, in usage it is slower than Firewire because of overhead.
