First post here, but I've been reading these forums for a while. I will need a laptop fo college, and judging by my needs, a T43 would be perfect but I am looking for other, possibly cheaper alternatives. Here is a wish list:
1-Weight: hopefully between 4-5 pounds, no heavier than 5.5
2-Sonoma? Its it that much better? I would like DDR2, but are there any other reasons to get the new chipset, or will the old do?
3-Screen: 13"-14.5" SXGA, i would prefer no Xbrite glare screen, b/c of reflections, but not that important
4- Sturdy: I know IBM can't be beat, but what other manufacturers are know for sturdy chassises? (ie: magnesium screen cover, aluminuim or titanium, good hinges, responsive keyboard)
5-Removable optical bay, possible for a bay battery or maybe even a blu-ray burner in a few years (that is, if they still make accesories for the then to be old laptop)
6- Integrated Graphics: no need for gaming, and it reduces battery use
7- Wireless, but this seems to be standard
Any recommendations? The Fujitsu LifeBook S7000 seems nice but it doesn't have the new Sonoma chipset, is that important? Dells just seem blah, and cheaply made. Asus looks nice (W3) but is also expensive. Thanks!
BTW: No apple
