And a free printer? Anyone falling for that scam deserves the pain they're going to suffer. Ink from Dell only = Hello HP and Sears 60% discount. Colr ink for $12; can't beat it.
Hmm so far I dont have any complaints about Dell aside from the average to below average screens. Although I bet my next laptop will likely be a non-Dell that has a Turion + R520 vid card and a beautiful display (well one can hope).

nah I don't think they will do that, they will just outsource the call center to an even less english speaking place than India. Like Quebec for example

hehehehe j/k

Or somewhere in Africa like Nigeria. Then even the reps will try to scam you into sending them your new purchase to them and they will pay you via western union ASAP.

Actually, there is a little truth to this one. I lived there as a kid during the early 80's and the longest power outage in Lagos was about 2.5 weeks! Luckily we had a pretty big generator and fuel tank.

That's the thing. They offered me $150 or a free printer or a 20% off coupon for my next purchase when I call Dell to return my old i9300.

However, I called DELL today and told them I wanted to return my laptop (xps g2). I said I didn't like the lights (they said I could turn them off). Then I said no i don't want it anymore I want my money back, I was trying to convince him to offer me that $150 cash back, but fock no , the rep didn't offer that, he didn't even offer a printer! nada! . Darn well my voice was trembling I guess he figured that was a lie
well I didn't actually want to return my xps gen 2 but was just trying to get that money lol.

how could I get it?
(what a question)
Dude, I would be embarrased to post something like that. But besides that, let me ask you this. What kind of deal did you get? I've been wondering if when you call in to return they check what deal you got and offer some amount based on that. So that if you got the sucker deal, basically retail minus whatever current automatic deal, then you get offered up to like 250, but if you got like the super double coupon back door deal, they don't offer you shit.

But here is the deal INTENTION IS CAUSE. Call back and really intend to return your notebook, go all the way through with it, get the RMA # and have them send you a shipping later and everything. Then if you have second thoughts and want to keep it, you still can until you actually ship it. Also, I would take nothing less than cash from Dell. The coupons are worthless. I don't think they can be used in combination with other sales or coupons, so they're basically giving away nothing since we all know that every other week a major coupon code comes out.

There's your answer along with some free spiritual advice.

Hey, you knock off those Nigerians. A nice Nigerian bought my Sony of ebay for full price today and is paying me shortly with a Western Union money order. I'm very happy about it. No complaints about the extra fee to ship to Nigeria or anything.

LMAO no electricity.

First off it is kinda scummy to make crap up to try and get cash back. Next, it isnt really hard to do. Have a major gripe. My gripes were battery life and the screen. I called the day before the 21 period was up. I talked to an RMA specialist and told them my screen was "sparkly".

This is true, honestly though I believe ignorance is bliss. If I had never read about this damn sparkle here, I would never had noticed it. Pisses me off I started reading these forums, I learned about dead pixel here too. Now every display I see with them they drive me insane.

Back on topic. Anyway we discussed the screen for a while as she tried to convince me it was normal. I told her I would think about it and asked her about the battery life. We discussed times a little and she offered to buy me a 9cell ($129). I told her if she could credit my account for the 9cell I would consider whether I needed it or not and decide if I was gonna keep the laptop. She asked a manager and got the ok for me. If I had it to do over again, I would have said that I had specifically paid extra for the screen and got the $100 difference for it aswell, but alas I did not. Getting money from Dell in my opinion is entirely too easy. I deal with many customers during the day so maybe I have an advantage of how to appease an angry customer and how to get your way. I could probably right up a little guide to dealing with them, but I dont think it would be ethical to distribute such information. When it was all said and done, with taxes, the 2 discounts I got from them and the $750 coupon I got my i9300 for $1292.90 (I think).

Specced: 1.6GHz, 512MB, go6800, BT2.0, Intel 802.11b/g, 6cell, XP Home, DVD+/-RW, and WUXGA.

I could probably have got the machine for $1200 even, but it was my first purchase from them and I was testing the waters with this machine.

They also offered my 3yr in-home for like $89 or some crap like that, but I passed. I can probably call them anytime and talk them into that.

Forgot to mention. They log everything, to what extend I do not know.

Really? Last couple calls to Dell and they told me they won't give me more credits or coupons. I wasn't pleased............ I spent like $4000 and maybe got like $300 back in total (credits & coupons), that's not a lot. Besides, I got charged with a SD card that should've been free b/c I used my coupon, and they refused to credit me directly. Now I have to send it back and wait for credit, and lose out my $50 coupon too. Filed a complaint with BBB regardless, just needed to vent

Gonna be quiet for a while (too many laptops already), and next time I better get something for the trouble. If not, I guess I can always order and cancel, just for fun

Agreed it is crap like this that ruins it for future purchases. If that 150 was a concern in the beginning you should have bought a HP or compaq at your local BB or walmart.

Dealing with Dell is like filing for a tax return. If you know what you are doing you can get a $100-$400+ return on what you paid. :P Hell I got $484 posted back to my CC from Dell after mentioning the 33% off deal they had going.

i'm sure dell thought about the problems and the possibility of people arbitrarily asking for credits and coupons for "any gripe"..afterall, why would they give the CSR's full discretion in providing credits and coupons if they didn't....

AGREED. I had numerous service related issues with some purchases I made for work a few months ago. They read back the log they had on me. It was very detailed and very extensive. My new sales rep confirmed that they do keep a LOT of information on customers.

Yea, they gave me that deal, too. A Porche, 20% off my next purchase, or a printer.

I already have a car and a printer, so I got 20% off my next purchase.

I'm never going to use it, anyways.
