whats your favorite color?

What color is everybody going to get?

I am going to be ordering a 5680, and I think I am going to go with a nice blue. Though, I am partial to black. Still, a metalic orange would be cool. (man I hate decisions)

What colors are other people thinking of getting?

If I was going to get one painted, it'd be bright red.

if i could have waited.... NEON yellow.... *sign*

If I waited.. metalic red

Metalic Midnight Blue or Black Chrome with Matte Black Highlights, then again Pearlescent White would be nice as well. Maybe paisley?

Hard to say, but I have plenty of time to figure it out, it'll be at least 4 to 6 months before the computer fund is back up to buying strength.

I have been waiting specifically for the paint option (and an .11g internal wireless). I am leaning toward a yellow, perhaps a deep purple.

I like hybrid orange... it's a nice "hide-the-ugly" color option for the 88xx series. I think candy apple red would be a slap in the face on such an ugly beast... might look good on a 56xx series.

YELLOW AND ORANGE AND RED...get some kind of sweet flame effect goin, or just swirlez...like many others, ive waited for this lappy with color, my friend down the hall from me thinks hes the shizat with his HP notebook, i just roll my eyes, and think to myself, "just a few more weeks, and then, i will rule this dorm with my flaming(not gay) laptop". do we know if its powder coat or just spray on liqued effect, in any case, i want it bright and loud(harder to steal also!)

i like black and gray...and luckily..mine is already black and gray

I already like how the 5680 looks right now. If I were to get it painted though, it'd probably be a royal blue like the old Area-51m.

HAHAA! Sure, you're gonna get a hot pink flaming (yes, gay) laptop, aren't you!

So secure... that gave me a good chuckle "flaming (not gay)" - excellent.

I like the color-shifting green-purple like on the first Mustang Cobra...

Does anyone know what kind of quality these paint jobs will be? There was another thread where people were having the paint chip from the laptops they bought back when PC Torque had the paint option before.

I ripped the following from a competitor's website. I think someone said the paintjobs would run about $250, which can get a whole car painted at Maaco. For that much, this is what I would expect:

Automotive Paint
Each ********** Series system is meticulously hand painted with multiple layers of the highest quality automotive paint, followed by four layers for crystal coat, baked, wet-sanded, polished, then waxed and buffed, resulting in a clean, smooth, utterly beautiful finish.
Paint Layers: 2
Crystal Clear Coat Layers: 4
Metallic: Yes

We never had one complaint of color chipping. I'd be interested to see this thread. Can you point me to it?

This is certainly news to us.

If you can get Maaco to disassemble these laptops, paint them, and reassemble them while having Sager honor the factory warranty, by all means use them. We are the ONLY reseller to have fully warrantied color systems and there is a very good reason for this.

We only use very high quality Sikken paint. I think our customers will be amazed by the quality as we have been.

Sincerely,
Laura @ PC Torque

Hey Laura,

Here's the thread: http://talknotebooks.com/showthread....&threadid=7515

There are actually 2 people in there complaining about paint chipping. One has an 8887 and one has a 5650. Hope this helps. I've read other ones, but it would take a little longer for me to dig those up.

They were talking about the factory paint, not custom colors. There's been a couple people (out of thousands sold) say their factory paint had issues, but no custom paint jobs that I can recall.

Cool, because I was kind of getting worried. Just out of curiousity, do you guys know the specifics yet? How many base coats? How many clearcoats? Wet sanded (I don't even know if I'd be able to tell)?

Laura, any idea if we can create a custom paint scheeme? Like, certain parts painted X, while others are painted Y.

I don't see why not. We would need to work with you to make sure we get it right.
