whats your favorite color? - Page 2

My custom-painted 8887 has not even shown signs of wear (at the palm-rests, where it is most-often occuring).

The color-coating is excellent and I can see it adding value to the laptop not only for stylish looks (on an otherwise ugle 88xx chasis) but an added layer of PROTECTION from sweaty, dirty hands! Nice clear-coat to cover and voila! A protected machine.

My next laptop will be painted. This is certain. I highly recommend a GOOD... no, an EXCELLENT paintjob - it's worth the money to do that right. Accept no seconds.

Cool, because I was kind of getting worried. Just out of curiousity, do you guys know the specifics yet? How many base coats? How many clearcoats? Wet sanded (I don't even know if I'd be able to tell)?
If you choose a color in the menu and click the "Details" button, you will see more info. Specifically:

-Paint is warranted against any chipping or peeling or obvious defect under normal use for 1 year.

-Painted units come with a full Sager warranty and tech support as normal.

-Painting involved is 3-5 layers depending on the color chosen.

-The 30 day warranty from time of shipping from Sager still applies but in the case of colors, there is a 15% restocking fee with no exceptions.

-The paint and prep used is of the highest quality and chosen for long life and the best adhesion to the type of material it's applied to.
Hope that answers your questions!

Is there a way to turn off a particular user's excessive use of smilies?

Awesome Sorry for all the questions Laura, if I upset you or anything, my deepest apologies. I usually research and and cite everything, but I honestly had no idea that the paint option was available already and I could click on the "details" button. Thought there would be a news post or something.

Wow, there's so many colors! I'm looking to match a car paint color. I've seen looked up color codes on the Internet, and I don't seem to notice any standard, i.e. sometimes the color code is a long alphanumeric string and sometimes it is just a few numbers with some dashes thrown in. Does anyone know what I should be looking for? Like letter-letter-dash-digit-digit-digit-dash-letter?

That's okay CClyph, you didn't upset me!

The colors just became available again today after a hiatus. We are so glad to be able to offer them again!

I am not exactly sure what to tell you about the paint code thing. Perhaps just the make model and year will do. I think that may be all you need. HTH!

I'm finding multiple color codes for Porsche Speed Yellow:

www.993faq.com lists L12G.

www.paintscratch.com lists 12H/X4 or 12G/X4 depending on the year that I look up.

Sherwin-Williams automotive division lists 12Q, 12G.

What would be the best info to submit with my order to insure that my 5680 comes to me in the most blindingly impressive yellow ever created?

edit: One more thing, custom colors are an additional $50. Is that $50 added onto the colors that are selling for $275 or the ones that are $295?

Let me see if I can clear this up.

I just looked up the Porche Speed Yellow and I do have it in our book. Our code is 12H/X4. We can definitely do this paint for you, and this is NOT what we would call a color match. There is no added fee for using a premixed paint.

The color matching is if a customer sends in a sample and our guys mix the paint exactly to match it. This takes time and skill, so that is why there is a fee.

This yellow is $275. Certain colors cost more becuase of their make-up. There will be no added for doing your special yellow.

Did that clear it up? Let me know if there is anything else!

and even if there were problems with the previous custom colors, I dont know if it would compare since i don't think their quality and attention to detail matches what im sure PCTorque's is
