Dell sent me repacement battery question?

I used Dell chat and complained about my horrible battery life at a little over an hour, and they said that it is normal. I kept on complaining and then they just said maybe i have a defective battery (which im pretty sure i dont have) so they sent me a replacement battery. When i got my package, they want me to send back the old battery ... is there a way to keep both without extra money or getting the 9-cell battery for free. The Dell site like misadvertised making me think i would get 3 hours of usage time but i only get like 1 hour and thats with undervolting and lowered brightness and everything.

They will charge you if you keep it.

I think you should get more then 1 hour of life out of the battery though. 1 hour on the 9 cell?

What laptop do you have? What size battery was your original. I heard of a lot of people getting a free extra battery because of complaining. I wish I had. Of course if you're unsatisfied, you can just return the notebook.

I don't think this user is telling the truth. I am assuming that this user has a 6-cell and getting 1 hour after undervolting the CPU and lowering the birghtness sounds pretty impossible unless his battery already has a wear level of 50%. OK, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that his current battery is defective. Then the question becomes, so why would he want to keep the defective battery? Sometime sounds fishy here and it seems like he is just trying to get a free battery from Dell.

Well the only way to get only 1 hour is to have the iXPS2 and run it on high peformance playing a game. And he says he doesn't think the battery is defective.

But with a undervolted CPU and lowered brightness? Which means without the undervolt or brightness lowering, he should only be getting 35 to 45 min. The battery sounds pretty defective to me even with a XPS2.

Edit: Just did a search, the user bought a 9300.

I'm getting close to 2hrs 45mins undervolting my i9300.. at default it can only last 2hrs 15mins on average... and I'm running on a 6 cell battery...

Same here, thus leaving me to believe that he has a defective battery. And if its defective, why does he wanna keep it? Sounds fishy here. Maybe someone is exaggerating a little too much to try get a free battery and then backfired because Dell wants the old one back.

That is what I am talking about. People these days! Stuff like this just makes it harder for others who have genuine problems to get the appropriate help because Dell is too busy trying to protect themselves from scammers.

Guys, let him keep both batteries and have Dell screw his credit account over
post #16 of 31
What an odd thread... Why the hell SHOULD you not pay for the second battery, if you decide to keep the old?

umm .. im not trying to get a bad reputation here. i only meant well. I have the 6-cell and bought the 9300 .. and i just heard of some people getting free batteries. I really do have only around an hour or so and its pretty pathetic .. the battery meter goes down pretty quickly and its kinda making me mad .. but this is my first laptop and its pretty awesome .. i just thought maybe the 6800 go was sucking a lotta power. I didnt mean anything bad about this post guys and im sorry if i offended you

The Dell website also said that the battery lasts up to 3.4 hours and i bought it because i thought it was powerful and would last long. I just thought that the Dell site is pretty misadvertised.

then call them and tell them that they wrongly adverisist it, and you want that what you paid for but dont play battery life faker
