Help! 20 FPS in CS1.6!!!

This is my compy:

2.8 GHz P4 (HT)
1GB RAM
256 nVidia 5500 OC'ed


Why am I getting such crappy framerates? Where can I get better drivers if that is the problem?!?

ewww thats really bad, yeah id double check the drivers, im sure others will chime in with more..maybe a nice defrag?

I've read about so many problem like that. The latest Steam update screwed up the FPS for many computers/laptops. SO it MIGHT not be you, but it's still encouraged to get the latest driver for ur vid card.

Okay, I downloaded two drivers, the latest nVidia drivers (they are the generic ones...) and then the Omega drivers. Both still run it like crap.

And how do you have it set? For "performance?" or "quality?"
