Anyone know about Intel Extreme Graphics?

Thread Starter
Does anyone know or heard about Intel Extreme Graphics 2 chipset? Its a integrated video card chipset for some laptops and I just want to ask if anyone knows how it works, how fast is it, and if there's a review out there about it.

oh i forgot to mention, i was originally going for sager 5680..but after weighing in the size, the weight, the cost of the unit..i figured I want to give props to the Dell 300M (that 1" thick notebook with Intel Extreme Graphics 2 vid card).

so i just wanted to see if the IEG2 can do some basic 3D gaming (quake3, unreal, etc) at the low 640x480 resolutions.

they use IGE 2 in all the centrino notebooks its extremely poor quality think geforce2 or Radeon M6 with less visual quality and poor driver support

Actually, I am getting a Centrino with the ATI 9000 built into it. Not all Centrinos use the Intel Extreme.

I read somewhere that the Sony TR1 gets about 35+ FPS in Quake 3 at 1024x768 on High Quality and 1851 3DMark2001 Pro at 1024x768 32-Bit. The TR1 has the same graphics chipset (I think) so you should be able to play Q3 and UT in its native resolution and some more resource heavy games at 640x480 or higher.

If it's anything like the desktop integrated extreme graphics it's not worth the silicon it's printed on.. shared video memory is hardly ever a good idea for games... i had to help a friend upgrade his desktop he had just bought because the extreme graphics was so bad.. very choppy video.. and this was on a 2.8 ghz HT computer.. his Geforce2 was even better then it.. although we did upgrade it to a ati 9600 pro within a week...
