Holy CRAP! I figured out how to fix my light leakage problem! - Page 2

Wow, what is WRONG with you?? May I recommend a Fleets enema? You've got something huge stuck up there. May I also recommend a therapist for the rage issues you appear to have.

In the other thread, I hadn't received my notebook yet. From the pictures that I saw, it seemed like the light was leaking from below. I had the same problem with a PDA, so I was merely agreeing with a theory that someone else had proposed. There was ANOTHER person in that thread who said they had put together LCD screens before and said there was a seal in there. All I was saying was that THEIR theory made sense and why I thought it made sense.

One person (Despotes) in that thread did show a picture of a patch of light leakiness that appeared to come from directly behind the screen. I thought it was an exaggerated reflection, but the author said it wasn't, so I didn't (couldn't) comment any further. Well, mine looked exactly like that except it was off on the right side and it was bigger. I started to wonder if other people MAYBE had a similar type of light leakage and I had misunderstood their descriptions. It looks exactly like the light leakage coming from the bottom of the screen, except more intense. You have TOTALLY misunderstood where I'm coming from and for whatever reason, decided that I needed to be put down like a rabid dog. Wow. Like I said - "rage issues".

In this second post, I JUST got my notebook and had this light leakage problem, which was pretty bad. All I was doing was describing what I did that actually ended up fixing it FOR ME. I described what I did, just in case someone else has a similar situation and it MIGHT help them out. I never claimed that it was the one and only solution for everyone. But at least I'm trying to help out fellow i9300/XPS2 owners. If it doesn't help so be it. It's not like I benefit or profit for taking the time to describe my problem and how I made it go away. My "kiss my feet" comment was done completely tongue-in-cheek. I was simply relieved that I wouldn't have to return my computer. You, my friend, need to lighten up. You're behaving as if I committed some heinous offense against you or your family.

I guess there must've been another Gold Beater who said that?

I won't address the rest of your ranting, because I honestly have no idea what you're getting so upset about. I made no claims to having "discovered" anything. I'm merely suggesting that there may be two different kinds of light leakage because I didn't think about light leakage from the LCD panel itself until I got my computer. And unless I missed some thread where people discussed it, I have not seen anyone suggest there being two different causes of light leakage. If you think this is wrong, then feel free to disagree and why. I don't see why you have to be such a sarcastic asshole and make it personal.

Why do you even bother coming into these threads about the screen? From your sig, you have a "great" screen.

BTW, you don't have to kiss my feet. Just kiss my
See? Tongue-in-cheek.

First you say I'm whining, and then you say I'm full of rage. Well make up your mind already!
I just can't stand attention whores on technical forums. You'll get all the attention you want, that's for sure. (I take delight in making certain that the attention that posers like you get is the appropriate kind, that's all. It gets me all that extra attention I myself crave. )

You're right, though. This is getting exhausting and boring.
I dunno. Maybe it really is me afterall. Not enough hugs growing up, waddever.

...Or maybe there's several hundred other very disappointed viewers of this post who feel the same way and are too busy trying to track down real LCD light leakage info to bother telling you what a jackass you were to post such a bullshit titled thread.

M'kay. I'm all done now.

Gold Beater notice the title is "Holy CRAP! I figured out how to fix my light leakage problem!" I went ahead and put the relevant bit in bold since you seem to have missed it all this time, he wasn't implying that this is some wonder solution to all lifes woes

hehe. Actually I did try that when I got my first 9300. I tried just about everything to avoid having to get an exchange. Obviously it didn't work.

Interesting fact: with the fluorescent light on the ceiling turned on, I can't see any light leaking from the bottom of my screen, but I can see it when the light is off.

Who wants to slide a high powered magnet along the screen to see what happens?

hey flux73, i'll back you up on this, cause i had exactly the same experience. a light area in the middle right of the screen. I just pressed it gentle with a finger, and it disappeared immediately. This was with the xp screensaver turned on.

Glad to see there were other people who had the same issue. From the previous examples, I thought the light leakage had only come from below. When despotes said his(hers?) was from behind the screen, I wasn't quite sure anymore. When I got mine, it definitely wasn't from below (though there is a *little* light leakage from below), but it looked the same. Was very relieved that there was a simple fix for THIS particular issue. Hoping the light leakage from the bottom edge will get better with time as people have reported. Screen still isn't completely black. But I can live with it now. It took me a full day before I thought to just rub the screen, so I thought, hey, maybe other people hadn't tried that yet. *shrug* Anyhow,

I believe it's a Samsung, but I'm not sure. I ran powerstrip and it showed "Microsoft Default Driver" in place of the monitor. Weird, eh? I can't remember how I found out it was a Samsung, but I think there was a driver or model number that indicated it. Haven't used the laptop again since 2 days ago. I'm waiting for the 2 gb of ram to arrive, and plus, I need to get a wireless router. It's too aggravating to keep switching the network plug between my desktop and the notebook.
