Sagerite gaming event, take two - Page 5

Erisalit32 asked me to post exact directions on how to connect, so here goes:

-Start up Counterstrike (I assume you all have links in the start menu, if you don't you can go to your half life directory, click on hl.exe, go to "Custom Game," and activate CS from there).

-Click on "Play CS."

-Click on "Play Online."

-Click on "Add IP."

-In the box, enter "011.001.100.110:27016" without the parentheses.

-Click "Ok."

-You should now see "SagerCS 1.5" in the big black box. If you do, double click on it, and you will start to connect. If you don't, click "Refresh" and it should show up.

There you have it. Erisalit gave me permission to post his IP, but since it looks like he edited it out of the original message, I'll wait for his go-ahead and then edit this post.

what you will see in the big black box

thanks 0110

I think that lays it out pretty clear

one possible difference, when I did this, I did not see "SagerCS 1.5" in the big black box

I saw a huge friggin list of mostly ip addresses. amongst that list of thousands of ip addresses, I was somehow able to scroll through and find mine, even though the addresses were not 100% in order, then I double clicked on the listing with my ip address and wala, I was in the game.

This may be different for me because I was the host? just in case other people see what I saw, I post this so they will know what to do.

Thanks for keeping the actual ip address private for now. I will post it on Saturday night, but I thought leaving it up in the interim might invite attacks or misuse from any unscrupulous types that might wander into this forum.

Yehaw! I'm getting psyched up for Saturday. Better players than me should clearly be trashtalking by this point! who expects to dominate?

I never trash talk. But there is a large statistical probability that I will 0wnz j00, and it is quite likely that I will r0x0r your b0x0rs.

For those wanting to make their own custom tags (you can spray them on the ground or walls in the game), there's a program called Wally that can turn any image, as long as it is the right size, into a pldecal.wad file, that you place in your Half-Life\cstrike\ directory. All I did to make mine was blow up my 50x50 Sager Forums avatar into a 64x64 pic, and let Wally do the rest.

is that all the trash talk there is?

is 0110 the only one going to talk smack! people people, half the fun of these gaming events is the trash talk, etc. I would be doing that myself, but I can't play this game well enough to back it up. now when we play AOM, I might dare to predict that I will dominate. Is there no answer to 0110's high probability estimates? are there no other Counterstrike players that think they will best the rest of us? Just me and beeb predicting we will both suck at the game? I'm so disappointed. How am I supposed to get psyched up for this with so little trash talk? somebody help me out here. see you in the game tomorrow night at 9:30 pm eastern standard time. woo . . . hoo . . .?

That was me

>> I think goes by the name "rjean" in this forum.

Yeah, that was me. I was going by my *clan* name: TLL | Gammy - I'm actually not in a CS clan right now (I've always sucked at the game, actually - been playing off and on since last June), but I am in a BF1942 clan - The TLL stands for "Team LanLizards" - their web site is: http://www.lanlizards.com

Anyway, I'm planning on playing in a few hours, but my wife may have other plans. Anyway, hope I can get on there for a little while and hope my Sager 5650 doesn't "twitch" out on me.

Later,
Rjean

Is this with the full version this time? Or the demo again? Haven't played CS actually (shamed).
You need the full version of half-life and then download about 250 megs of hl updates and cs. It's very depressing for those who have DSL that doesn't go past 40 KBps (or 56k for that matter).

It's about 4:15 PST here, the game is taking place at 9 pm EST so in about ... 1 hr and 45 mins, the game will be up.
oh whoops I thought game was now. Game in 30 mins! I think.

Sorry, I didn't have time to go out and get the game =(. We've been working hard on making our system builder work better with other browsers... Phoenix, WebTV, old versions of Netscape....
Lol, I was watching Count of Monte Cristo with some friends... wow, good movie :-) I was kinda ticked when I got back and I realized that I'd missed the game. Aw well... :-( Glad it was fun though!

we were hoping for 6 but fun anyway

sorry beebs and Adam could not join us. four was fun but 6 would have been more fun. I will post about a third Sagerite gaming event soon. This time I would like to make it AOM. We had a number of people interested in a gaming event with that game and that one we won't need to do as a direct ip game like counterstrike. there is an AOM demo available to see if you like the game. The full version, which I believe you need for online play, is available on ebay for $25 I think. Well worth it, it is an awesome game and its 3D graphics really show off the capabilities of the Sagers. So look for a thread titled Sagerite gaming event, take 3 in the near future. Meanwhile, anyone already playing AOM online, add erisalit32 as a friend and give me a holler if you see me online.
