Game ssounds in morrowind

this has to do with Morrowind. It seems that when i am playing and want to turn the sound way down, i am not able to keep the sound of swords hitting swords low. It is a constant loud sound. Even when i turn the main windows sound down and all of the in-game sound controls (master), i still have a loud clank when sword fighting. Any advice or explained reasoning??

This is very odd, as that volume should be part of the in-game sound settings (and subsequently the master volume setting).

Could you be sensitive to high-pitched sounds and it only *seems* louder? Or is it definately not being reduced in volume?

its just really subtle. im sure my ears have earned their fare share of frequency modulation from red rocks, but: heres the thing. the sound has no adjustment, it seems. and drives me nuts when i am trying to keep the sound at a low level. it is constant during sword battles. sorry for the reiteration of my previous post. ill have my ears checked too.
