Got an Xps 2 refurbished from dell

Thread Starter
Last night after a little struggle i was able to get a refurbished xps2 from dell.com for 1852 $ shipped to my door.comes with a year warranty.i used a coupon for the outlet which saved me around 300 $ more.
What do u guys all think? Do u think it was smart to get one refurbished from dell with warranty or not?

the machine has the p4 m 2.0 ,windows xp media center edition, 1 gb ram ,100 gb 5400 rpm hard drive , dvd writer , but no wireless adapter (i guess i need to get a mini pci one from ebay for 30 $ or so).

Would u guys go this way and get the refurbished one like i did or would u rather buy the new one?

I just ordered a refurb XPS2. My total was 2040$ after tax/shipped.

Mine came with 2915 Wireless, 1 GIG RAM, 350 Bluetooh, DVDRW, 80GB HD, Office 2003 Pro, XP Pro, 2.0 GHZ .

I thought I got a decent deal since Office 2003 Pro alone is like $300.

Depending on the deal I suppose...

In my case I was really lucky to nab the XPS Gen 2 during the 33% EPP discount. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a laptop from Dell's outlet site.

Good luck on your purchases guys!

My only question would be is why is the shipping date exactly 7 days from order date. I thought they had these already to go and be shipped. Why does it take 7 days for them to throw my address on it and ship it?
Order Processing: Thursday, April 21, 2005
Pre-production: Thursday, April 21, 2005
Shipping Prep: Thursday, April 28, 2005
Estimated Ship Date: Thursday, April 28, 2005

Because they're waiting for someone system to come into the depot

Why would they list and sell something they don't have without inspecting it or anything?
I would guess that they will beat that ship date.
You will probably get one of the xps2 people returned cause they didn't like the monitors cause of the sparkle.
when someone returns a system dell takes the system apart and rebuilds it. that could be why it takes so long for then to ship it

Hey guys, those of you who bought an XPS2 from the outlet. I got one myself, and I'm really bugged by something, can you guys check your order confirmation for me (and yourselves)?

In my order, it says '256MB NVIDA Geforce go 6800', it doesn't say the Ultra anywhere. When i configured an XPS2 in dell Home thereafter, it said 'Geforce Go 6800 Ultra'. And then I tried with another XPS2 outlet system, it did not say ULTRA anywhere. Was wondering if all you guys who got XPS2 from outlet got the same message 'go 6800'? Definitely do not want to get a regular 6800 for the price I paid!!

'Inspiron XPS Generation 2 Notebook: Intel Pentium M Processor 770 (2.13 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
1 GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz (2 DIMMs)
60 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
256MB NVIDA GeForce Go 6800
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Notebook Screen'

Thanks!

About the shipping, they have the machine there and will take 1 or 2 days to ship out as usual, always happen that way with me before on the desktops.Pretty sure is the same to the laptops!!!

by the way, asked dell and got the following reply:

'After reviewing your e-mail, I understand your concern regarding the
256MB NVIDA card on your order (number ).

I have gone through your account and show that your order (number
) includes 256mb, nv42, extreme performance system graphic
card. I have also found that your order is in processing stage and the
estimated ship date of your order is 04/28/2005. '

doesn't help at all...

Don't worry that's just Dells clueless CS department doing what they do best (failing to answer questions in any meaningful way and telling you stuff you already know)

Ha, yeah. 1 more thing they're excellent at. they gave me a $100 coupon because they left out the 'ultra' at the end of the 'go 6800'

I missed out on the huge coupons of late and I wound up ordering a i9300 early this week (the XPS was a bit too much to explain to the wifey). I decided to do the refresh dance earrrrrrlllly this morning. Man it's hard to beat the bots and pros out there. I somehow managed to get my fingers moving fast enough to pick up an XPS2!! WooHoo! Here's the specs:

XPS2 2.0 GHz PM
512MB RAM (already have a 1GB DIMM waiting to install)
60GB @ 5400 RPM HD (have a 7K60 waiting)
No WiFi (that's OK I got one of those too!)
-----------------
Total = $1479
Upgrade warranty to 2 Yrs Onsite = $118
Tax + Shipping = $176
-----------------
Grand total = $1798!!!

That's less than the i9000 I have in the boxing stage. Man I can't wait. BTW, my video card is also listed as a 256MB NVIDA GeForce Go 6800. I think we're OK.

Wow, nice deal duffy!
I'm envious of you iXPS2 guys.... even if I can afford one maxed out iXPS2, sadly it wasn't available.... so I gotta be content with my i9300...

My question - is that LG screen a "Truelife" glossy one?

I'm also assuming the NV42 is the Ultra, but I'll report back if mine arrives before anyone else's.
Yes, NV42 means ultra, and GWVA means glossy (glare, wide viewing angle).
I just had a nice XPS2 refurbished selection, but none of the coupon codes I found here worked on it. Without them, the $500 saved isn't that good of a deal. Are there any active coupon codes that work in conjunction with the $500 refurbished rebate?
