touchpad button stuck

my left touchpad button is sticking. (ok spare me the jokes speculating why it is sticking--suffice it to say there have been no spills or foreign substances getting into the touchpad that would have caused this). basically, it gets stuck on, so that all I do is hover over something and it clicks on it, or if I mean to click once, it clicks more than once. really a pain when I close a window, meaning to close only one, and it closes all of them. also a big pain playing games, where it will select and unselect units randomly. I could switch to using a mouse in the near term, but I actually prefer using the touchpad.

I have had numerous laptops and use the touchpad instead of a mouse always and I have never had a touchpad go bad on me. I really hope it isn't necessary to mail the whole thing to Sager over this just to get the touchpad fixed. any suggestions short of that?

ok then I guess I will just have to RMA. No one had any other ideas I guess.

How old is your 3790?

How long have you had yours? are you still under a year and inside the warranty period? I wouldn't know what to do except attempt opening the case as a last resort to "disect" the problem. What has tech support told you? Good luck on this and I hope you have it resolved quickly!

thanks Derepente. I have owned it since December. This is early for such a problem to occur imho. I called Sager tech support. This is not something they recognized or acknowledged as a widespread problem with the 3790 and they had no quick or easy fix. They say "sticking" touchpad buttons are usually caused by liquid getting in there but there has been no spill into the touchpad to my knowledge (I do have a 3 year old so I can't be certain nothing ever occurred in my absence, but presumably I would know). They said the only way to get at the touchpad to inspect it and potentially clean it out or whatever involves taking the whole computer apart (arrgh). Outside the warranty period I would take it apart myself but under the warranty I will RMA. That means I get to pay for shipping I presume plus I need to part with the computer for like 3 friggin weeks. grrrrrr.

between having the mobo go bad after only 2 years on my 5660 and now problems with my spanking new 3790 I am becoming less of a Sager enthusiast.
