LG vs. Samsung

Is there anybody out there who has experienced the LG and the Samsung and liked the LG better? I know many people out there like their LG and I know there are people who received defective Samsungs but has anybody chosen the LG over the Samsung?

Is the Samsung any sharper than the LG and are there any Samsung's with zero light leakage?

Please... not this again... its up to YOU, YOURSELF to determine which screen YOU like... its all about PERSONAL preference...

Please no more of this screen thing... its getting annoying to be frank...

I saw the title and immediately thought to myself, OMG....not this topic again....its beens beaten to death 10 times over.

If it looks ok to you, just stick with it and forget about it. You might enjoy the 9300 more that way.

All I'm asking is if anybody has chosen the LG over the Samsung. I've been reading through this board for the last few days and it seems that there are are people who don't know what to think (this would be my category), those who blindly love the LG and say why worry if you are happy, and those who have seen both and say that the LG is crap compared to the Samsung. Nobody who says they have seen both say that the LG is better.

My specific problem is that I have light leakage. If I have sparkle, it doesn't bother me since I cannot seem to figure out what it is. I also have a dark spot on the bottom corners. All this has caused me to consider going through the hassle of calling Dell so I figured if I am going to call I might as well find out if the Samsung is truly better.

The other concern I am having here with these boards is that many people who like the LG are very defensive about it and seem to get very upset when it is compared to the Samsung. This definitely makes me think that I got shafted with my LG.

wel i have an LG screen and i love it! No sparke to speak of and ive been looking on every inch of my monitor to see if it exists

It was a bit too contrast but fixed that with some careful tweaking of gamma, brightness and contrast control on the nvidia panel!

Light leakage is very minor, only really visible on the black windows screensaver.

I've got a Samsung screen, no sparklies, no light leakage, only very slight shadows on bottom corners of the LCD. And I love it~!

So right now its a tie... both LG and Samsung is good~!

Seems like you've already made up your mind, so all you gotta do is contact Dell now about the LG that shafted you!

I haven't made up my mind yet. Sorry if I sounded like I am against the LG. If it wasn't for the slight light leakage at the bottom, I could probably live with the dark corners. I am just trying to do my research before calling Dell so I will know what to ask for. I know personal prefence plays a big part but without the ability to see them side by side I have to rely on other people's opinion. I really like the image on my LG, it is super-bright and has great color but I think it would be foolish on my part to just call up Dell and say send me another LG without researching the Samsung.

Dell probably won't give you what you've asked for, even if you'd asked, the screen that came might not meet your expectations too.

Please use the SEARCH and you'll see how many people had their screen changed and changed and still don't like it...

no matter how many ppl u ask, its not really going to help you. U have to see it for yourself and make a judgement.

In all honesty, i dont see what the big deal is, all this hoo ha about the LG. Maybe im lucky because i got a good screen The only complaint is that is a little too contrast, but thats not worth calling dell for.

It's pretty much a roll of the dice. Some people got screens with terrible light leakage which for some is worse than the sparkle effect.

Personally, I went from the LG WXGA to the Samsung WXGA and I got SOOO lucky. The screen is beautiful, absolutely no light leakage, no sparklies, beautiful color, and much better viewing angles. I'm so happy I made the change.

Just be warned, I may have had some bad luck but it took four calls to Dell to get a replacement screen, and then over two hours to do the swapping. But it balanced out because I have the perfect Samsung. :-D

Try QuickGamma and see how you like your screen.

http://www.quickgamma.de/

Made a big difference in my LG. Before I ran it the screen was washed out. Make sure you run it in color mode to optimize. Also click on save settings as default and load settings on Windows boot.

How do you find out if you have an LG or a Samsung screen on your i9300?
I posted my comparison of the two here.

I would say they're both equally sharp. It's hard not to be at 1920x1200.

If you "...really like the image on my LG, it is super-bright and has great color... " I would say stick with it. My Samsung has more light leakage than the LG I returned, which seems to be typical.

I have a 9300 with an LG and my wife has a 6000 with a Samsung. I love the LG and wouldn't have the washed out Samsung. She loves the Samsung and wouldn't have the glossy reflection of the LG.

There ya go.

Dont see any difference here mate, maybe it takes a while to notice it.

The 4 Samsungs I've had sucked. Major leakage.
The last 2 were/are LG's. 1 LG has really bad leakage and the other has leakage that's almost tolerable.
The whites on the Samsungs were better and the sparkling is worse on the LG's. Holographic-like.
Dell needs to get with Fujitsu's supplier of LCD's.
My experience---You want LCD quality, certainy don't get a Dell.

mbman on these forums had many lcd returns and like 2 new 9300's. he ultimately choose to go with an LG screen. theres many people that saw the LG next to a samsung and said LG was better.
personal preference is what it comes down to

Westmc - I recieved a new XPS last week and had no light leakage but was dissatisfied with the LG display because of color "graininess" - I noticed it immediately and so did my Wife.... So a new XPS is on the way with a Samsung Display (Dell dosent want to loose the sale) so I will get to compare the two next week.

The thought occurred to me that quite likley the quality of these WUXGA displays is rather variable from display to display - that would explain why we have people sitting on "both sides of the fence" as to which is the better screen !!!!!!!

The truth of the matter is that getting a good display may be more or less of a "hit or miss" thing......
