4780 Pic and Details? - Page 2

Notice the chipset on the 4780? No dual-channel for you high mem users. But, the widescreen could easily make up for that minor issue.

.........

I dont know if you know this, but paint jobs usually cost (ESPECIALLY SAGER) ALOT more than this because of all the labor...we had this discussion waaaaaaay back in like....ummm..who remembers that?

Looks like just 9600 pro and 800fsb support, without dual-channel RAM support.

I was hoping for at LEAST higher res on the 17", as I get more "usable" space on my Dell doing 1600x1200 then an employee does on his 4760 doing 1440x900 and another on the new apple power book doing the same 1440x900.

I was so looking forward to buying the 4780 too.

Does ANYONE make a 17" LCD laptop with a bit better resolution?

well the 17inch lcd on the sager 4760 is the best looking laptop lcd I have ever seen. there is no ghosting or any other crazy effect, it looks better thant the dell ultra sharp. honestly, anything higher than 1440x900 is something I dont' plan on doing wheater it be 2d or 2d. Standard resolution now a days is 1280x1024 and 1440x900 is almost exact same area as 1280x1024.

So far, it looks like the best resolution on a W?XGA screen (16:9 format) is 1900x1200, but that is on the Dell/HP 15.4" screens (WUXGA, which are seeing delays all around).

The highest 17" display resolution is the current 1440x900, which is alright for most applications which don't require that much space (i.e., not photoshop, 3ds max, etc.). It looks like not much is going to happen before the end of the year, well after the introduction of the 4780 in Oct.

I thought the UXGA on my 5680 made everthing tiny until I started using Photoshop... I can't go back to anything less now! SXGA (or WXGA) might be fine unless you've used anyting around UXGA.

Don't hold your breath on a better screen for the 4780.

Id have to second that. I have the 5660 uxga and thought the same. anything else less than uxga just aint gonna cut it.
But you should also be concerned about system performance...unless youre trying to do a "my screens better than yours", which can get reeealy expensive.

thanks for the link, i hope they do change the style and look of the 4780 at least a little bit. if not its fine but it would just be cool to be able to tell them apart from the 4760
