5680/8890 custom colors are now available

Starting a new thread on it now that they're available to explain things as best I can. Here's a pic of some of the colors we have put together:

Click to Enlarge picture, be sure and expand picture if you're using XP.

Of course you can send a paint code, paint sample, or color sample to do color matching for an additional $50.

The custom colors are only available for the 5680 and 8890 and ARE available to current 5680 and 8890 owners by special request no matter which Sager reseller you bought from.

We went with the best we could find after testing out many companies to get the best quality. It does cost more than some of the other places we could have gone with, but we would rather have a few people feel the price is a bit high vs people feel the quality is a bit low.

-Painting adds 1-2 weeks wait on top of the normal wait time on the order.

-Paint is warranted against any chipping or peeling or obvious defect under normal use for 1 year.

-Painted units come with a full Sager warranty and tech support as normal.

-Painting involved is 3-5 layers depending on the color chosen.

-The 30 day warranty from time of shipping from Sager still applies but in the case of colors, there is a 15% restocking fee with no exceptions.

-The paint and prep used is of the highest quality and chosen for long life and the best adhesion to the type of material it's applied to.

Many of the colors are not as bright as they will appear in most lighting because of the way the pics were taken. For example, you can check out the hummer colors in another light by going to:

http://www.hummer.com/hummerjsp/h2/gallery/index.jsp

http://www.hummer.com/hummerjsp/h1/gallery/index.jsp

and also try to customize a hummer to see the different colors in a different light.

The notebooks are painted complete and not just parts of them. If you want only parts of them painted or parts painted different colors, we can do that also... for example, if you want the 5680 palm rest a different color.

All paint used is Sikkens and different preps are used for each piece for the best adhesion.

It's the same price right now and should stay that way unless we run into any snags with supply or something we didn't expect. You will have to pay the shipping both ways though.

That makes sence.

As for ordering (im still considering, since it is a decent change chunk), could we PM you, or wait till tommorow for business hours?

So wait, if I ship my laptop in, and back, I would get the paintjob for free?

The chameleon colors are so difficult to choose from. Well, I will make my decision by tomorrow so that I can place my order.

Yeah, I am in the same camp (less the bumper stickers)... It'd be awfully sweet to get the upgrade and another coat of paint.

Would I be the only one to paint a laptop TWICE? I guess that'd make me (technically) a nut.

first and foremost, methinks your 3000+ posts at this place solely qualifies you as a nut...get a life man!

hey btw do we get to keep ye olde proc and ye olde M9, since we appear to be paying full price fer the new stuff?

I know it isn't avail. for anything but the two you listed, but may I ask why its not avail. for the 47xx series? I'm a big fan of them, and was hoping to get a painted 4780 when they release...

I'm not complaining, just asking why? I'm sure it has to do with some tech. difficulty and is not worth the time, but I'd still like to know.. This may affect whether I get a 5680 or 4780..
Its because they use New replacement parts sold by sager. They dont have the 40XX parts, AFAIK..
Damn, well that sucks.. I'll wait for the 4780 spec's, and to see if they will be able to paint them before I decide.
