5680 @ A Lecture - Page 2

classes

I see, how do you like the classes once a week but for three hours? Do they give you breaks at all? Are you allowed laptops in all of them?

I only have one class like that and I get a break half-way through. Laptops are allowed and my 5680 is a saviour!! As mentioned above, it is an 'artsy' anthropology (not that bad, though) course, so there is A LOT of f*ing writing. The first time I went to the lecture my wrist almost fell off; I swore to bring my 5680 every week after that, lmao.

my four hour class is why i'll really need the laptop.... its called regional land use planning and the prof has us read nearly 200 pages of land use studies and articles in pdf or html form each week, so if it weren't for the computer i would have a huge stack of paper by the end of the semester. Which brings me to another nonsequitor... have any of you guys thought about using a graphics tablet attacted for taking notes with a pen and digitizing them as you go? I've been thinking about doing that.

As well as running and posting 3dmark scores for our lappy's we should also be running and posting mobilemark from Futuremark scores, it's a great app....

They were okay. You're allowed to have a laptop yes. Some of the better (newer) labs have not only easily accessible power outlets, but also network ports to plug into. Though that doesn't really matter, since they have wireless too.

For people bringing there 5680's to lectures, is it so big you feel goofy pulling it out onto the desk? (mine hasn't arrived yet so I don't know the real physical size of it yet).

Why would you feel goofy? You have a kickass laptop. :-)

Every prof I have seen has asked me about the laptop and all of them were amazed to hear about its capability...and mind you...I had a 5660

Tech support guys took my laptop for a day/night shift and ran some of their database updating software...they all went home 2 hours earlier than usual

haha wow that is incredible. Though I'm not sure I'd lend it to the tech support guys

I've had that experience too. I can be a bit rough with my laptop at times. Though not as much as my friends.

You know, whenever I drive home I let my friend watch DVDs on it. He could at least wrap up the cables and put it away neatly while I drive. He usually says he'll put it away, and I'll get home and find cables with knots and the laptop just laying in the backseat.

Thats f*ing horrible (think of the dust and s* like that). I would never let that person even touch mine after an incident like that.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. It is kinda annoying considering I do all the drive. He's a very demanding passenger, he bitches about covering part of the gas, he doesn't like me listening to any of my CDs while driving, windows stay up while he is in the car.

Bleh, I guess I'm too passive to enforce my own driving habits when I have passengers in the car.

When i get my 4780, I think I'd play games in class instead of actually listening. Shoot I have a hard enough time puttin my Ti-89 calculator down and listening to the lecture.

For my labs though... I'll be able to design and test the circuits I have to build on Electronics workbench So that'll save me an hour or so every lab night!! For communications class I'll be able to use my laptop screen as a teleprompter while the S-Video feeds the projector during my PowerPoint Presentations... that'll boost the grades a little. In Drafting class I wont have to deal with the crappy AMD 1800 computers at school or deal with the constant network shutdowns using Autocad 2000i. In the Lunchroom I'll be gettin mad ladies because of my HUGE ...er screen.

For Lectures though... I think I'll have to uninstall my games cause it'll be WAY too tempting.

Self control dude, self control.

BTW, Calculator games? Yeah I used to be a calculated nerd, but come on, calculator games suck!
