He he he, if that is the case, then I definitely have to wait for a big sale/deal so that I will be screwed less.

But I don't know if this is a trick of DELL of jacking up the price real high and then throw in a coupon to make it look like you are getting a good deal but in reality you are not.
These are not tricks. I put an XPS 2 in my cart a few weeks ago, then got an email coupon for $750 off, plus the sites current discount, and my corporate discount stacked with it also. A XPS 2 that I built was full price of $3400.00 was only $2100.00. Unfortunately I didn't have the money at the time and so I just keep waiting for the opportunity to come again. So the discounts and coupons are for real and I've seen even better coupons out there. I've never seen anything out there for the Gateway.

Well it is a trick like you say. But in reality a lot of people pay the full price all the time. Basically all the people how do that are subsidising the great deals that those of us here are getting. But to the question "Are we really getting a good deal?" In comparison to what you can get elsewhere? Really everyone for the most part sells their product for as cheap as they can make money and compete and also for as much as they can get for it. Except for Alienware and FalconNorthwest and such who just target suckers over all. So I don't really think you are getting a way better deal from Dell than other places, it mostly comes down to narrowing your choices down to what exact features you want and how you feel about the company you're buying from. Plenty of people won't buy from Dell for any price because they don't feel the quality and customer support are worth any price. On the other hand plenty of people won't buy from each of the other major manufacturers for exactly the same reason. I won't buy from Gateway because of one experience I had with one salesman at one outlet. I've bought from IBM, Dell, Compaq and Sager. And I'd buy from any of them again if the right price with the right hardware came up. I may buy a Fujitsu later this year if they come out with that 17 inch with RAID-0 that's been talked about. Or I may just stick with the 9300 until Intel or AMD with 64 bit dual core mobile processor is available in 17 inch notebook.

Well... Gateway is ok, but I will not buy any laptop with our Complete Care and Gold Support, I will only buy Dell laptops for that reason. As for everything else... everything has some sort of flaw, that’s life, but will I have to wait for 3 weeks to get my laptop back from the mail in support at Gateway, I say not, and will gateway fix my laptop that my coworker knocked off my desk... no in a million years. Dell is king for a reason...

Just another one of my opinions...

If you plan on doing any intense gaming and want to play games in the distant future, then obviously XPS2. If you are a part time gamer and dont care to get mediocre performance in games then get the gateway. I love my XPS2 screen, played Call Of Duty for 12 hours straight today.

In my experience in the past Gateway is pretty easy to deal with as long as you know exactly what's wrong with your system. My family owns 2 Gateway desktops and when the cd drive in one failed it took only 20 minutes on the phone to arrange for a replacement. Otherwise both systems have performed very well over the past 5 and 8 years.

If I had prior knowledge of what I've experienced with my XPS2 and Dell before I purchased a laptop, then I would have gotten this Gateway or the 7620 instead. I did heavily look at this particular Gateway laptop because I love the keyboard, the design looks good, and I'm sure the screens won't have that grainy coating on them. Only drawback is that it was more expensive than this XPS2 and I am too scared to return this thing because I know it'll be sometime next year until I get my money back (used DFS X_X).

So it's your choice. Neither system is perfect and the drawbacks and advantages of either system balance out pretty well. The Gateway will become obsolete faster but it appears to be better while the XPS2 will live longer but you risk going through Dell hell.

With the ACCIDENTAL coverage, you will probably can get a new computer in 2 years. So even if the Gateway becomes obsolete earlier, you can always upgrade it to a new computer by smashing the old one on the ground.

Buy the gateway, someone has to.

Atleast it isnt a Alienware your considering.

Don't get caught up in all the bullshit. Buy the 9300, it kicks that systems ass. Look wise, quality wise, performance wise. And the screen won't be very much better. I got all worried when buying mine because of all the speculation. Went ahead and ordered anyways. Best decision I could have made. You won't regret it.

I got my XPS2 last week.

I am in shock.

This computer is a piece of art. It's gorgeous. It's perfect. I have ZERO complaints about it. I have never been more satisfied with a product.

Oh, and you wouldn't believe the compliments I get on it. Even people I know that are less than computer literate think it's beautiful.

You know, if I had bought the Gateway, I would always have wonder: "what would it be like to own the XPS2/9300?" or "I wish I had the cool graphic card"....even if I get the Gateway in excellent condition.

It is that "what if" feeling that I am afraid of getting.

But then again, the same thing can be said about the Gateway, but if I am completely satisfied with the XPS2, then I would not have that feeling.
