DVD & Display Image Size

Evenin' Folks,
I Really like this 9300 .... but [there's always a 'but'] .....I'm trying to get some approximation of Full Screen when viewing DVDs. The amount of real estate given to the actual movie seems to be beyond my control.
I've tried both Dell media & WinMedia, with identicle results. It's seldom using what I would consider the maximum area. The worst is the REALLY small/thin unchangable ........ Image approx 6"x12". Tried both players. Got out and changed the system resolution drastically....Restarted.......No change at all ! [that surprised me].
It would seem that with the right media program any image could be stretched/cut to any user demanded configuration.........so why do these programs make the decisions for us and give us no choices ??
Any and all help greatly appreciated !!

Strongly recommend: Media Player Classic(freeware). THE program people use, and very no-nonsens of design. Right click on the window when playing, and you will find every way to adjust the picture size you could think of (under paan&scan, zoom, video frame). There you will find all the shortcut key combinations you can use while playing (say, Numpad 9 for stepwise increasing size and Numpad 1 for decreasing).

Thanks so far ......... Power DVD didn't have pan & scan, but it happily grabbed 5 megs of patch. hopefully that'll do it.
I'll look for 'Media Player Classic' next...........I DON'T plan to live with the problem !
I'll post results as I confirm them ......... Thanks again
