i8k was much more stable for me, but i9k did look a lot better. If I knew anything I would try to make a new skin for i8k. I love this little program but can't get it to work under linux.

Are you using 32 bit linux?

Yes.

just adding my wants :- better control over fans it only goes in 3 steps currently and although there is an option is dosnt work for me. better or clearer ways of setting up manual fan controls to temps of components.

When first using i8k it is a little confusing but after a few uses you see its pretty simple and straight forward. i havent looked at i9k because i8k looks fine i dont understand how it could look better maybe some vista aeroglass lmao

but its all just improvements i8k works well enough to be a solid part of my system and thank you to the people who make it, if i haven't already i will drop a little pay pal donation in next time i am downloading it.

When I get my laptop back up and running, I'll post a SS of I9kfangui. Its leaps and bounds better "visually" than i8kfangui.

Please do because I remember I used to use it and thought it looked nice. Haven't used it in forever now though so I don't recall quite what it looks like.

Dell Inspiron 8x00/9x00/XPSx fan control-Version2.3 internal BETA3 build9

AFAIK This had been the last build of FanGUI 9 (which works great on D800).

The download site I had linked (Dec'05) above for this build has been redirected to:

Dell Inspiron/Latitude/Precision fan control utility

I have not tried it, but recall reading a thread in Dell General about a 'diefer.de''s
more recent FanGUI (for core duo's???).

I must soon replace my old reliable backup '97 Latitude LM and thinking of D830 64k core duo.

If anyone has that build, please send it to me.

I uploaded the rc1 build to rapidshare, this is not new as I haven't put out a build in a long time, but it was one of the last ones that I output. Someday i'll get ahold of a new dell laptop and finish what I started.

I forgot someone stole your lappy Spud. Anyway, look at the precision M6300 if you want a familiar feel. Only thing thats changed is more performance, no subwoofer, and a media direct button instead of having to hold the play button. Anyway, hurry up and get a new laptop so you can rejoin the community.

Hate to bring up an old thread, but how does one get either i8k or i9k to run on 64bit vista?

Tried disabling driver signing but no luck so far.

This version (see below) works great on M6300. The problem with the laptop is the X7900 runs hot, and not helped with the fx3600

I use that (earlier in thread) linked boot routine to disable driver signing every day - being able to keep the fans low when doing 90% of the time 2D work is great

Here is the screen shot of the about tab, with the version link for download

Without the program the bios ramps the fans up and down which is annoying for me in quiet locations
