Alienware support - Page 5

you will use the alienware credit to purchase a desktop? why not get another 7700 with that credit since you need a laptop more than a desktop? i mean, you will end up spending $5k-$6k for your computer needs in the end and you are complaining that you don't have money.
they'll probably turn around and send him the same grief strickin laptop if he did that. now it'll get passed onto the next buyer. glad I already have mine. haha.

hey i looked at that site ibuypowercom. Prices are indeed very good. Looks like they carry the uniwill223 (sentia) for about $300 - $400 less than alienware similarly configured.

I wonder if they just have low overhead, or what. Or maybe it's just that they don't offer the "award winning" cs and tech that alienware does :P

its going to be a new laptop dude! the chances of another 7700 in advertised working order are much better than doing 2 different computers from the 2 different vendors route.

hehehe.

I called today and they have a no questions asked 30 day money back guarentee. So I think I'm gonna give it a shot to try to offset my total cost.

As far as trying another 7700, refer to a few of my posts back about the heat. And my video issues. I'm willing to give AW another shot but I woulndt go so far to say I'm willing to give the 7700m and AW another shot. If there wasnt the whole 15% re-stock issue I may have given the 7700m another shot. I need as many new variables as possibe right now.

Roll Tide, roll......

availingfaith you could also look into the Inspiron series, right now DELL is offering there best rebate at 35% off good for 1 more day or if you can catch it before they hit there limit. Just hope for a LG Phillips LCD otherwise I am very happy considering Im not dealing with the heat issues I was having with my 7700. Plus within your first 21 days of purchasing from DELL you get THE BEST customer service, why? Because if they give you any crap you can just say you you'll RMA it back for a full refund.

Uh, he's not going with a different vendor, he's going with the same vendor and choosing a difference computer! If he were to just reorder the same laptop I would bet they'd try to hand him back the same laptop he just returned. I wouldn't put it past them.

Let me clear the air.
I HAVE to have a laptop. BUT I'm not going down the 7700 road again. So I opted to get an AW desktop since I only had credit and wasnt going to get another 7700.

So this leaves me with a sweet desktop but still no laptop. So I am looking into other companies for the cheapest laptop deal I can find, since the entire laptop cost is already over my budget since AW only gave me credit and not a refund and I applied that credit to the desktop.

hehe @ availing faith, u like my "subtle" jab at aw cs/tech ?

Anyway, yeah the ibuypower prices seem pretty good, I'd be willing to bet it's like 5 guys running this thing outta their house, cause if I was doin that, I'd know that the computer I sent you would work cause I (or one of the 4 people I know personally) would have built the thing.

Anyway, if you need a good portable lappy (maybe not since you went with the aw lappy elephant) the uniwill clone is very nice, and they have a good price for it. It's also called a winbook x over at winbook, tho i don't know what their prices are.

1 more thing jubei30 stfu.... Everyone here knows that dell has some 35% or $750 off sale every other week. In fact, I helped my bud configure a 700m witha $600 off coupon just recently. Plus, it's at the top of the damn forum every time they have a sale...which is all the time.. I'm not sayin Dell sucks, I'm just sayin....Go be a fanboy in the dell forum! BTW, I've dealt with Dell support, they are nice people but utterly clueless and hard to understand.

God, I am so tired of reading your posts. In fact..... there....... you are now on my ignore list, so nm post away to your hearts content.

availing, you could still have gotten the 7700 notebook. I know your not interested in that now but had your system not become the party to a freak event, you would still be owning one. What happened with Alienware depot is not something that happens. ever. If you need a notebook it just doent make sense that you ordered a desktop.

jubie, go push your Dells in the Dell forum. final.
First off, I was only sharing info with availingfaith, its not everyday the 35% is offered. I guess its ok to talk about notebooks from Ibuypower or winbook but not Dell? Is the DELL the forbidden word in these forums? You can both stfu, and aurora you can push your mod powers on someone else because frankly thats all you have and thats all you ever do around here, thinking your in god mode.....lol give me a break you nerd. What you gonna do edit my post or better yet ban me? OH NOES!!!

well, this may help change your mind;

i ordered my 9860 sager (to your 7700 equivalent) and the first one died out within my 30 day free trial. an rma was issued and i recieved a new system. the new system runs cooler than the old one and even has no dead pixels! again, i want to point out that your chances of recieving 2 faulty rigs back to back is extremely rare and you have a better chance of winning the lotto instead...or something like that, heh.

anyway, if you didn't go through the total BS with alienware, you would have been showcasing that 7700 because they are truelly the fastest laptops with their p4 and hyperthreading on the market, if the rigs are not defective, of course. the symptoms of heat and the garbled images was clearly a hardware defect, or incorrect installation of the components. like i said, my new rig runs cooler than the older one, (probably because they applied the arctic silver 5 compound CORRECTLY this time). it idles in the 40c range even in a hot room whereas the older one would idle in the 50c range.

i don't really care what you do, but if i were in your shoes; i simply would have requested another brand new 7700 and something else, like more ram, for example, for no charge with the new rig for the troubles that alienware put you through. from a financial standpoint it doesn't make sense on the decisions you are making. if you need a laptop, why are you getting a desktop? it sounds like you are going to be knee deep in debt if you even have the capability of purchasing 2 systems.

it is not the 7700 at fault here, it is the way alienware alienated a customer. but, then again, you are not taking advantage of the situation. so in the end, it may be your fault if you are barried in debt or are simply unhappy with another vendor's product.

although I am skeptical of anyone with 200+ posts in 2 months :P

I think ^ is right, if it's not too late, maybe see if you can apply the credit to another 7700. I'd be willing to bet they'll build it right for you this time. just get a different color, or else they might just send you the same one again lol

In case no ones noticed theres another 7700m "craped out" thread that just showed up. And over a dozen posts about the heat on the palm rests litter this forum. I called before I knew anything was wrong with the unit and inquired if the heat was normal. I was told it was by 2 tech agents. So true maybe I had more heat from bad hardware, but the level of heat I described was considered "normal" by 2 techs. So let's say I get another 7700m and everything checks out but the heat is still unaceptable to me. What then? Then I'm stuck paying a 15% re-stocking fee or settleing for laptop. I'm sorry but when I drop $2,800 on a computer from a company I've longged to have a pc from, I shouldnt have to settle.

All of you watched as call after call I got the run around and you actually think I could of gotten anything for free? I finally get to talk to someone willing to help I wasnt about to blow the only chance I had by demanding free upgrades.

Yes, I need a laptop and only want a desktop. I saved enough money to pay for my 7700m in cash. So anything over that IS putting me in debt. I went from pure excitment after I ordered my 7700 to nothing but stress after reciving it. I felt like a chump after being told the heat was normal. For crying out loud their own website says comfort for those who demand the best.

I've been wresteling in my own mind the exact questions youve all posed. Go into debt or "settle" for a laptop I may never be satisfied with. The fact that I had less than 24hrs to decide didnt help either. That was the deadline I was given on my credit. I've been working like crazy over the last two days trying to tweak this Toshiba every way possible in order to buy me some time in having to buy a laptop.

The bottom line is no consumer should have to be put it this situation. If your going to advertise one thing, you need to deliver on that. And if you can't deliver on that promise then you either need to change what your telling the consumer or allow them to get their money back. The fact that every tech I talked to says they are aware of the heat is grounds enough to me that they should change the wording on their products description. The only way they'd be aware of such an issue is by numerous calls coming in or they were aware of it during testing. In which case is even worse. Had AW given me a refund, I already said I would of bought a laptop from another company and then when I was ready to buy a desktop gone back to AW for being kind enough to give me a full refund. But they didn't. The only option I got after hours upon hours on the phone was a credit.

At this point I'm over it. A few of you posted about the level of my patience. Well i'm all out now.

EDIT: AW doesnt use Artic Sliver, so the fact yours wasnt applied properly and got cooler after it was dosnt come into play. [correct me if I'm wrong on AW not using artic silver] Also, thanks Aurora for being so lienent on the various directions this thread has gone. I've tried my hardest to keep it focused on the thread topic of AW Support.
I only use god mode on thursdays.
but pissy dell owners...
yea, i edit/delete/ban them whenever they pop up.
Yes AW doesnt us AS but he was stating it more for the fact that ever company screws things up i believe. and that the screw up wasnt the problem but more the customre service. second people keep refering to the line that Aw says about the keyboard. AW says comfort when it comes to the fact that it is a fullsized keyboard and therefor your hands dont have to be cramped up but have the space, i believe that is clear in the context of the statement.
please don't try and fanboy him at this point, if it were me I'd be so pissed you can't even imagine. Hell, I'm still mad that they replaced my dead pixel havin screen with another dead pixel havin screen.

availing, I totally understand where ur coming from, but after thinking about it while I was at work reading this thread (i was workin pretty hard lol) it just seems to me that in the end, not paying the 15% is actually gonna cost you a lot more in the form of now having to get the laptop you needed plus a desktop too. That's all I'm sayin
just kinda feels like aw has just screwed u again.

But, if ur gonna do it, those notebooks you mentioned on ibuypower seem to be the same stuff other guy have at cheaper prices, although they get pricey pretty quickly as you add stuff. And if youre gonna take out a second mortgage anyway, maybe just go get a falcon northwest or something, ive only read a few reviews about them, but every one has been outstanding, same thing with voodoo's stuff too

just my .02
i don't think falcon would be a good choice since their premium is higher that aw's. in fact they're probably the most expensive among the "boutique" retailers.

availing... are you looking for a high end laptop like the 7700 or just something portable for school/work?
Another option would be to accept the replacement notebook and and then sell it on Ebay, hopefully just below your purchase price. You are at the mercy of someone buying the thing though.

I don't see what that matters, I mean, some people do post alot because they are answering questions (correctly) or asking questions, or maybe just making small talk. Why is everyone so concerned about post count anyway? It's meaningless and then complaining about it makes people not want to post because they think that they'll get harped on for post padding or something. If people didn't post for this reason we'd be missing out on alot of good info. Sure you have to sift through stupid peoples posts at times but that's just an annoyance of free forums.
