Here are the specs for the mp3 player:
  • Headphones = Not Included
    Batteries = Not Included
    Quality = Not Included
    SD-Reader = Included
    "Wow" Factor = Included (only once)
Yep, that about covers it. Headphones? Bah, save those for when you want to listen to high-quality tunes. Leave the mp3 player as a 1-in-1 card reader, until the 6-in-1 ships.

Adam, I was assuming the headpiece was included as shown in the pic you posted. Not really a big deal as the player is primarily to entertain my wife while I use my new lappy!! Just curious, is the sound quality really that bad? I mean, I am usually ok listening to fm walkman, how bad could it be?

Actually, I am being misleading... I think it does come with ear buds, now that I think back to it. Not real quality ones (but I am spoiled: I have an iPOD).

I'd get an iPod myself, I actually have a Mac G4 dual 500's w the first dvd-rw the clear monitor (you see all the innerds) and the HK kick ass sound. For its age (almost 5 years) its still a pretty kick ass system.

i got my mp3 player out right now just to test it. first time since i got it 2 weeks ago. It transferred some songs quick as hell when i plugged it into the slot. I remember them saying that you cannot have the mp3 player in while installing ur os so that might be the problem. maybe not wtf do i know? anyway, it is really thin. it has bad lcd screen.,,,meaning it just tells me the number song i am on. anyway, it is not bad for a the price. I got the 256mb mp3 player and it was really cheap. I am using a goo pair of headphones that i already had tho so that might make a difference. anyway, bass is not too loud but the things r right in ur ears YOU DONT NEED ROOM ROCKIN BASS. it gets loud enough to drown out all other noises. it did come with a pair of those airline headpones, no batteries. all in all its great for the price.

It is a 100% total piece of garbage. The first one I got didn't work at all so Sager replaced it.

This one works but if I had known how crappy it was I don't think I would have bothered to have it replaced.

Picky Picky Picky

The one that came with my 8886 is just fine. No, its not a symphony hall. But then what portable device is. For serious listening, nothing less than a very good audio room will do and those simply don't travel well. I know, I've designed and built them. The earbuds are ok, especially for air travel, afterall, little will drown out the jet noise or the screaming babies they unfortunately let on planes. Otherwise, it works fine, though it burns batteries a bit faster than I think it should. I use a headphone to tape adaptor to use it in my car, sounds just fine, indeed, as good as the cd player. And no, its not a crappy cd player, unless Chrysler's best is crappy. And, hey, if it gets lifted or lost or crushed, well, no major loss.

Its also quite useful for on-the spot transfer of data.

In general, I like this port type, with the 6 in 1 reader, and hopefully other connections, it could become a real nice addition to portable computing.

Would I pick it over other units, not likely, it doesn't really have the features that most offer, but it would depend on price. Then again, I can't plug those into my computer or use them for data transfer.

Essentially, I consider it a freebie and for the price, its pretty damn good. I certainly haven't gotten or even found anything better for the price.

Oh, and by the way, mine did come with batteries.

I guess it depends how critical a listener you are. I also have Chryslers best sound system(it has Infinity speakers)& yes, it is pretty crappy(it is just barely good enough to keep me from going to the PITA of installing a good aftermarket system)

The problem is, I used to own a high end retail stereo shop & I know what good sound really sounds like

my mp3 player only lasts for about an hour on batt is this abnormal?
maybe my headphones draw too much power
post #17 of 23
I remember this happened to me when I first got my 8887 with the mp3 player. The batteries that come with it are not good at all. Buy some good quality ones and the battery life should go up.

Mp3 player.

no shuffle.
weird sounding equalizer presets.
no repeat.
low volume (tho there is a way to modifiy that with soldering)
no "hold" button either(but the buttons are inverted so it doesn't really matter)
short battery life(even with good batteries. mp3 player=3-4 hours. my dads 5 year old cdplayer = 22 hours)

I use it CONSTANTLY. Lil crappy P.O.S. I just love, something to do with anthropomorphizing. I'm trying to find an adapter that plugs into the mic jack, that has its own amplifier so I can get louder volume. Tho I bet this means lower batt life.

You mean headphone jack... aren't there some headphones that have amplifiers in them? They need batteries (of course), but I coulda sworn I've seen them somewhere...

Something like THESE HEADPHONES but smaller, for the portable crowd...

Nice, I wonder how the bass on those are! 5hz? How accurate is that?
