Hey guys here are my specs:

P4 3.20 Ghz ht
Intel 875PBZ mobo
1 gig ram
Seagate 120 gb 7200 rpm
Nvidia fx 5600 vid card.

I ran a 3dmark 05 and scored only 364! My vid card needs upgraded bad! I have all this cpu power but my vid card is holding me back.

I was looking at the 6600Gt or the 6800gt. I am willing to try ATI but I have had Nvidia cards since 99.

Thank you

Any input or help is apprieciated.

For around 400 bucks you can get a 6800gt. that's what i would i get even though i prefer ati. the reason i suggest this is because i think it is a bit cheaper than the x800pro and also gets better scores.

Well a great budget card out right now is the 6600GT, but like mortey said... if you have a few extra bucks, I'd go ahead and get the 6800GT (id last you a little longer)

Really depends on your budget.
6600GT is excellent mid-range card or IMO I think 9800's are still good. I'm a fan of the cards not the companies

Thanks guys I am trying to upgrade my subie and my comp! I really like the 6800GT and 400 is a chunk of change so I will have to think about it.

The 6600 can be had for around 250 or so I think.

Thanks for the advice!

If you go 6600GT make sure to get the 128 version with GDDR3, not regular DDR. They can be had for about $180 if you look around. You can also find 6800GT's for the low $300s if you look for deals.

Is PCI express more desirable than AGP? It seems as though alot of the cards that are PCI-e are a little more money than the AGP?

Does ur motherboard support PCI-e? PCI-e is suppose to be better but there are a few cards out there that are complete crap so you have to read the reviews first.

ive had ati and nvidia though my last two cards have been ati. if you play alot of doom3 lets say nvidia way to go. if you play alot of hl2 then ati way to go. and if neither then just go with what you prefer. i have 6800gt but my computer in my sig isent done yet.

That motherboard is AGP

I'd pick up http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16814108137

$299.99 with 1 dollar shipping. I have the EVGA 6800GT see sig. I'm hitting just over 6060 in 3dmark05.

Unless u can afford another 89 dollars right now! I'd pick this beauty up http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16814102519

Latest and greatest single card right now.
